so the trust is putting together a hologram tour. so awesome. it was lame when it was announced dio is doing it but its the tits that the trust is doing it with frank.
i saw zappa plays zappa in around 05 in detroit and there was a huge screen maybe 30 foot tall and he was playing chungas revenge and dweezil got up there and played with his dad. it was #ing cool.
i am looking very forward to this

LOS ANGELES – SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 – Eyellusion, live music’s premier hologram production company, today announced that it will work closely with the Zappa Family Trust to produce hologram performances of Frank Zappa, giving fans an opportunity to experience the prolific, eclectic and critically acclaimed music legend live in concert again. Production for the Zappa shows will kick off in late 2017, with performances announced later in 2018. “I’m thrilled that Frank Zappa will finally be going back out on tour playing his most well-known music as well as some rare and unheard material,” said Ahmet Zappa, co-Trustee of the Zappa Family Trust. “We can’t wait to bring his creative work back to the stage with the musicians he loved to play with, such as Steve Vai, Ian Underwood, Adrian Belew, Arthur Barrow, Vinnie Colaiuta, Scott Thunes, Mike Keneally, Denny Walley, Warren Cuccurullo and Napoleon Murphy Brock among others who are committed to being part of this epic endeavor. When I spoke with them, they were excited at the prospect of performing alongside Frank once again and can’t wait to give fans an unforgettable experience.”

Ain't that wonderful? This way everybody can make some more money with his corpse and isn't that what music is all about?

its fantastic. i do not agree with a lot the trust has put out, a lot of their practices, especially with certain titles/years of his catalog. the recent # between dweezil and the fight with the trust over his use of the name zappa plays zappa.
but i get more of franks music. i get a chance to see and hear something live that makes me happy. theyre selling and im buying.

It's an interesting thing.

On one hand it raises the question of respect of the dead and such. On another hand, it's mostly harmless I'd say. Pretty damn cool, actually. But on the third hand, at the same time it seems like it might be kind of cheap. You know what I mean? What kind of thing is it, for those legends like Zappa.. Who were very smart and aware of things.. To still exist as that voice of reason, through the commercialized industry that recreates their image. I doubt he would have liked this. Enough rambling..

Zappagram is a sellout.

Sorry to piss in your snow, but I hate this.
Im actually sort of surprise Zappas estate was down with this...Dio maybe... but jeeZ.

I would also be surprised if Adrien Belew and Steve Vai tag along... but who knows stranger things have happened.

Seems like such a shameless cash grab.
If he profits all went to some music school or something maybe I would feel better about it.

Ok, this is pretty cool, but why diss Dio, one of the best voices in metal history?

A few years back when i first heard about this holographic technology, obviously i was a little irked about how they'd bring back all of these people one by one, you know i was wondering about the whole let them rest now, they did what they had to do already side of the tale. But who better than a Frank Zappa Hologram? I would go and see his hologram perform in an instant, and i would go to a lot more performers as well. What i want to know is, do they have him saved on a single flash drive? and that flash drive tours the world with the band? or could you have multiple Frank Zappa holograms being transmitted through "the cloud", so everyone could enjoy the comfort of the Frank Zappa hologram in your own home? what about down the road from now? and they start to have holographic performances of artists in our era? i wonder if they'll have a holographic image of them in the back of the dressing room after the show, with hoards of holographic groupies, with their holographic cough syrup and Hennessy? the possibilities are endless really. In the future i think bringing back these legends in holographic form is purely a revolutionary advancement for the human civilization. could you imagine if we had every great lecture throughout our history filmed and recorded, and all we had to do was to press a button, and a holographic image of that person would appear in front of you and walk you through how they envisioned this mystical theory. imagine if you could study from a musician, and learn step by step on how to perform the song or arrangement, from the very person who the piece diverged from. But the future generations will mostly be stuck with 21st century holograms form our generations and so forth, all the zappas from before will mostly be buried beneath the rubble of what anyone deems feasible in the future, i think it will go a hollywood route, and we'll be stuck with the reality television stars and all the other people who parade around amongst the rest of the dimwits, instead of putting in the work, and showing off their actual talents. I think right now during our era will be the golden age of the holographic scene, since we'll be treated to recorded performances worth giving a damn about.

Brings to mind what HST said about the music biz....

“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.”

Ummm...I don't know about this. Honestly I would love to see Zappa again but something in the pit of my stomach doesn't feel right. Zappa hated the military industrial complex and the stronghold they had on musicians and entertainment in general, so I wonder how he would feel.

However, it would be very cool if Dale Bozzio would be part of it.

If they really want to rake in some cash, they should pull his half rotten corpse up there and put a guitar in his hands. He would've wanted it that way.

The Frank Zappa estate wouldn't let Dweezil use the name for touring purposes. This is nothing more than a cash grab for the talentless executors of his estate.

Life long Zappa fan, I loved the man and his music and I saw him in London, Paris and Los Angeles. Dweezil was only 16 when I first saw him play in LA. A live Zappa performance is an unforgettable experience, a musical bliss-out and every one of his concerts feel historic is some way.

As for holograms of late musicians, I see these as no more significant than watching an old concert like Woodstock on TV. If that's the technology they want to deliver Zappa's incredible body of masterworks with, I say bring it on, I'll be right there.

I would also love to see lesser known musical figures or early R&B/Jazz figures in live hologram concerts. I think its a great idea and its time has come. I think you folks that are dissing this should see the bigger picture of how profound an enhancement of our cultural heritage this will be.

And in even more exciting news, the great "Joe's Garage" by Frank Zappa will soon be performed as a musical!!!

The family said it was also at work on a production of "Joe's Garage The Musical" -- a rock opera about the government seizing control of the music business, which did not appear on stage until after Zappa's death -- with Zappa himself starring by hologram.

I thought this might finally be proof of the Mandela Effect, but it is just a hologram.
