John "of God" so called faith healer

I've always kind of thought these so called "faith healers" are shysters of the highest form but apparently this guy is better than most as he's getting a LOT of attention. From his official site:

They come in their thousands. The sick, the lame, the 'incurable' and the medically discarded, to a small town in central Brazil. They endure long international flights and for some long bus trips to Abadiania, high on the plateaux of Central Brazil. They come to be cured by the miracle healer, Joao Teixeira de Faria ... the man they call John of God.

He will scrape away cataracts and eye tumours with a knife, remove breast cancers with a small incision and cause the crippled to walk with just the touch of his hand. In a meditation room a ceiling high stack of discarded crutches, wheelchairs and braces pays silent testimony to his success. He is acclaimed as the greatest healer of the past 2,000 years.

Is his "acclaim" as the "greatest healer of the past 2000 years" a comparison to Christ? In another part of the site he's actually making incisions with a blade while conducting a standing "surgery" on a man and the guy is just standing there letting him saw away at his stomach!

There will be some discussion about him on him during the first hour of tonight's C2C program if anyone is interested, John Quiñones of Primetime Live will be the guest as he's been investigating John of God. Looks to be rather interesting.

I'm listening to C2C right now..very interesting.
John claims he can not remember doing any of the incisions he has done on people, because he was under some kind of spiritual guidance!

I think he may be real.... I've have seen spiritual ecstasy do amazing things before in some churches.

I watched a documentary on Life and Times about him yesterday. They showed him operating on a womans back without anesthetic, and sticking scissors up peoples noses without them flintching.

I don't know how he does it, and I think that the 'psychic surgeory' he does is a load of rubbish - but his methods certainly are intresting!
