Russia Used Facebook Events to Organize Anti-Immigrant Rallies on U.S. Soil

russian propaganda agents have used facebook as a tool to spread propaganda and organize actual right-wing events in the US. they've been playing our right wing citizens for fools, using them to stoke division here... which is definitely their game.

“We must stop taking in Muslim refugees! We demand open and thorough investigation of all the cases regarding Muslim refugees! All government officials, who are covering up for these criminals, should be fired!”

The event was “hosted” by “SecuredBorders,” a putative U.S. anti-immigration community that was outed in March as a Russian front. The Facebook page had 133,000 followers when Facebook closed it last month.

my concern is, given that we know russia is attempting to use the right wing to drive a wedge into american unity, and given that people on the right wing are showing approval for russia and putin in greater numbers than ever in the past, how on earth do we reverse this trend?

or is this just a case of people liking when they have their ideas reinforced so much that the american right wing and russia are just going to become firm and fast 'allies' because that disinfo tastes so sweet?

I'm fairly certain that "general conspiracies" is the correct forum for a post that advances the idea that Russia is using social media to foment unrest within the US.

"General" being defined as: considering or including the main features or elements of something, and disregarding exceptions; overall.

"Conspiracy" being defined as: a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.

Look....... Facebook has attacked and demonized ANYONE who is against liberal agenda and narrative. Pages, communities, profiles are systematically removed left and right for sharing anything that goes too far against their viewpoint.

Rightwing news sources are considered "fake news" by them, shut down, banned. speaking in a non P.C. way can cause you to be shut down, with reports and examples everywhere of the left being able to threaten, post fake stories, etc without repercussion.

that's what i thought... i didn't realize there was a separate forum for just political conspiracies, though, and the thread has been moved
