Immigration reform isn't going to change the past. Besides, what's wrong with our immigration laws the way they are?

Border security has nothing to do with immigration laws, and border security is a lot more complicated than building a stupid wall, that will be obsolete before its finished!

If he isnt trying to appease both sides, why would he suggest this?

Its in Congress's hand to come up with something that isnt "Trump based policy"

What I think America should adopt is point based immigration like Canada and Australia. It works very well. Immigration reform should focus on transition to point based immigration.

Some people want everything one-sided.

It don't work that way.

Well if they were fully followed and enforced through the years, nothing is wrong.

That means the whole "Dreamer" issue would not even exist.

Does it? Isn't that just asking that we bring over people who can compete for our skilled jobs, while all the unskilled ones become in demand? Seems like that would just make a bad employment situation in the US even worse.

America used to have slave labor. The sky is not going to collapse. Sure, wage would rise without illegals working below minimum wage, but society will adjust.

To take the heat for the decision off of himself and put it on congress?

That'd be my first guess. It's hard for me to believe that a politician whos trademark is division all of a sudden cares about working with everyone else.

But, like I said, there's a first time for everything.

“I’d like to see something where we have good border security, and we have a great DACA transaction where everybody is happy and now they don’t have to worry about it anymore,” he said.

And there it is. He's holding 800,000 kids hostage to get his wall.

DACA can't become "permanent". DACA is meant to provide relief for a specific and small group of people, not every child of every undocumented immigrant. DACA was a small window.

DACA has nothing to do with his stupid border wall!

It's called compromise. Dems get part of what they want and Reps get part of what they want. What you are saying is you want no compromise. That's being one sided. You could end up with nothing. Half a loaf is better than none.

It's called using people's lives as pawns in a political game, that involves Trump's ego more that immigration policies.

Well then I guess we will just deport everybody if people like yourself refuse to compromise. Your the one holding those people hostage, not Americans who want a secure border.

Holding 800,000 kids hostage? They should of never been allowed to enter the country in the first place, plus not all of them are kids, unless you call 20-30 year old's kids. First step allow the 800,000 "Kids" to stay hear, next it will be allow the families to unite, allowing even more people with no skills that don't benefit this country to come here.

A wall helping to secure our country is not stupid. We need it along with harsh punishment for any business caught employing illegals. The government has no problems passing harsh fines for downloading one copyright song, yet they won't issue fines like that to any business caught employing people here illegally.

We don't have enough money to take care of American citizens, yet some of you think we should keep the flood gate open to allow anyone to come here.

You can choose to look at it that way if you wish. Would you rather he not offer a compromise? Just follow the law and deport them? He could do that. Instead, he is offering a compromise. An EO is subject to being overturned by future presidents. That's why it should have gone through congress to begin with.

They were innocent kids when the arrived here, decades ago. They have attended our schools, churches and served in our military.

Yes, the wall is a stupid idea in the day and age. It's an environmental nightmare, requires the government to steal private property from it's citizens and will be obsolete before it's built.

Trump promised Mexico would pay for the wall, now he's threatening to deport 800,000 otherwise innocent individuals that no one wants to see deported, if tax payers don't pay for the wall, and NOW!

There is already a wall. It does not cause environmental degradation.

He also promised health insurance that everyone would be happy with and we see how that went. Why doesn't Donnie just admit he's sending these kids back because the labor force is dropping in the factories that make his cheap crap.

There is nothing wrong with American health system. There are plenty of hospitals and equipment. Compare that to Syria and you see the difference. What's the point of insurance if you can't use it. You use it once and it becomes too expensive to afford.

"Donnie" don't make laws.

"Congress" does.

Seems everybody is going off on pointless tangents.

DACA is not a law. Never was.

Get Congress to move and forget the pointless arguments.
