You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be
Alt-right, alt-right, alt-right
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be
All right, all right, all right
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
I've never been positive about the lyrical meaning of this song but, I take "talking about a revolution, but it sounds like a whisper" to mean no one
is really doing anything, just talking/whispering. Sure, we have riots, demonstrations, but...nothing ever comes of any of it.
I remember waiting in great anticipation for the radio to air this very song the day it was released. In fact the entire album. On KMEN radio, I
believe out of San Bernardino Ca. I was a lot boy, 15 or 16 washing cars. Even My Boss was there as the songs began to play. It was about 10:00 am on
a cloudy day.. Incredible are the only words to describe the music our ears were hearing.
