I disagree.

While there are the more vocal members here who have had no problem calling other members racist and Nazi, there have been a few members that I have been "combative" with in the past that I'm seeing as honest good decent people.

Maybe it takes something like this to unite people.

You'll always have the people who will hate on everyone and anyone who doesn't think like them.

But the rest of us are getting along just fine.

If that was the goal, they could do that immediately. These groups existed long before the current crop of GOP. Also, your assuming any political deity has your best interests at heart.

Yes but if well meaning GOP politicians attacked the alt-right/supremacists without provocation, they'd lose a lot of voters.

However, if those types are encouraged to hold Nazi rallies and people die at those rallies, those politicians will suddenly be on the right side of history and be much more attractive to the next generation of new voters.

I tell you, I don't ever see much that you post I ever disagree with. I suspect you're pretty much spot on here too.

I would like to buy into Trump's populist anti-establishment rhetoric, but something just seems off to me. He seems to pour a lot of fuel on the "anti-establishers are nuts" fire. To me, that's not happenstance.

If you think we suddenly arrived at this state because ... Trump. You haven't been paying attention. There has been a concerted effort to push us into these boxes even as far back as the Clinton admin and probably even further, but I wasn't politically aware then.

I would say back to LBJ, actually.

It just took a lot longer to actually take effect than the original planners imagined. If you think about it, with the new 'cold war' and the racial strife and division, it's right back to the Johnson era. This feels almost exactly like the 1960's.

This really isn't on Trump----he just made a really good shingle to hang the sign on, so to speak.

I use it as a term sometimes whenever I assign somebody to tackle a project (like I said, a bowl of kale or taking out the garbage).

Note the example in the definition of "sicced lawyers on me". It's not always about biting people.

That's why I suggested what I did earlier. Wouldn't it make more sense if the angle was to disassociate the average conservative from racist ideology by positioning their politicians in a way that attacking that ideology is seen as tough, rugged, and just?

In the same ways that the media has portrayed conservatives as bigots, media has portrayed liberals as overly sensitive to racism. So to combat racism anytime in the last few decades as a conservative, it puts them at risk of looking like a pansy liberal. Yet, if racism rises up as a tangible movement, universally loathed by any reasonable person (what they are doing with alt-right), then the decent GOP politicians have a target to attack without looking weak.

If not the media radicalizing, then whom?.

Starting to blame the media for stuff here now huh?.
