Last night, a very wild, very lucid dream.
I was part of a 6 person mission to Mars, the first manned mission.
The dream began on the Martian surface. Our team occupied a large, house-like base. The base was two levels, self sustaining with power, comms, and
resources to boot.
I distinctly remember the feeling. It felt very much like being on Earth, but isolated. Like being in a vast desert, similar to having an advanced
living and research quarters in Antarctica or, morr appropriately, the Gobi desert.
The main difference in feel, was looking up at space and seeing Earth in the distance. Knowing that true solace and comfort, lay millions of miles
away. That left me with a feeling more akin to being in a submarine, deep in the ocean...
At one point, I was in the garage area where the rover and other equipment was. The garage had a long, tunnel-like tube leading out to the Martian
wasteland, and was pressure sealed with an air lock at the end of the tube.
While working in the garage with our mission commander, something with great force struck the air lock and destroyed it.
The pressure immediately and rapidly dropped, with air rushing out of the garage.
The commander and I ran towards the door to the main complex and shut it behind us.
I remember thinking to myself, there was no sand storm or weather. The current weather in our area was calm. What could have caused this, I
thought.
Before the other team members arrived, the commander pulled me aside.
She says to me, "I have to tell you something..."
I looked at her quizically.
She went on to say, "This isn't the first manned mission on Mars. It is the second."
I asked her why no one heard of the first, shocked.
"The first mission was done in secret," she replied.
"The team went missing. We have little idea what happened to them. All we know, is that this area is where they were seen last, and we were sent to
find out what happened..."
I looked at her both surprised and angered.
"Why wasn't i told?!"
She looked away and back at me.
"There's something else. We are not alone here."
She paused.
"There is life on Mars. We are aware of a sentient species, humanoid like."
I was dumbfounded by this revelation.
"All we know is that they are similar to our ancestors, tribal. Their technology and manufacturing is much more primitive than ours, but...."
She looked away concerned.
"What is it?" I asked with a hurried tone.
She looked off into the distance with a thousand yard stare, sighed, and said,
"They are, different, than us. Their techology is much less advanced, but they are somehow....very advanced. Their intrinsic knowledge and
understanding of nature itself, and their ability to, I guess, 'manipulate' it, is much more advanced than us. We don't know how. That is why we
are here."
End.
