Hard to believe a lot of this stuff is over 30 years old. Makes me feel super old. I was born in '76 so the 80's are really my childhood. It's sad
that kids nowadays don't really get to experience the fun we had back then. Seems like technology has started to take the place of toys.
Although Atari and Nintendo played a big role in my childhood, I'm going to leave those out of this post.
My ABSOLUTE Favorite of all time was GIJOE. I had probable 60 figures and probably 10 or so of the vechicles. I played with these from about '82 to
88. In my opinion, the later years the quality started getting poor, and they were getting pretty cheesey. Low-Light was probably my all time
figure.
....and my favorite vechicle was the Tomahawk.
Who doesn't remember playing with Thundercats?
I had 20 or so these LJN Wrestlers, and the Ring.
I also collected the little pink plastic toy called M.U.S.C.L.E
GoBots! The Original Transformer!
He-man was one of my favorites also.
What about Stompers? Remember the little foam tires? I can still remember what they tasted and felt like in my mouth.
They also had the water Stompers too!
and don't forget the Stompers Track!
I had forgotten all about the Air Jammer Road Rammers also! They had a little engine sound from the compressed air
Anyone do any Garbage Pail Kids Trading?
Mask!! The cartoon was great also!
I don't remember what these things were called, but it stole many hours of my life. I had them in the larger like 1 foot ones, and also the little
smaller like 6" ones.
Battle Beasts had the cool little hologram stickers on their chests.
I believe these were called Sectaurs. Neat toy that you put your hand in and use it like a puppet. I had the tarantula one.
Micro Machines, choking hazard, but loved them as well!
BlackStar! He had the cool Glow in the dark sword. And I believe the dragons they had were cool too if I remember correctly.
I loved playing army also. They don't make cool toy guns anymore, maybe with the exception of something Airsoft releated. These looked real back
then.
This was a little before my time, but someone I knew had one of these, because I remember playing with one.
I had one of these too. A R/C hovercraft!! What?!!!
I didn't have many of these, but I thought they were cool. I think they were called Super Naturals. They had cool little holograms on them.
Came across this candy when I was browsing this morning. Do you remember it?
Hope this brought back some good memories for you! Sorry ladies, I don't know much about toys for girls. I had a sister but she is 4 years older than
me, and I didn't pay much attention to what she played with.
So ATS, what are some of your favorite toys? Or anything that takes you back to the 80's?
Strawberry Shortcake, She-Ra (and the Crystal Castle!), My Little Pony, Barbie, Cabbage Patch Kids, Wonder Woman Underoos, Rose Petal Place flower
dolls...those are some of the toys I remember growing up as a girl in the 80's...
Then there were Viewmasters... Does anyone else remember Pogoballs? My little brother and I both had those...
And I had some of the Star Wars action figures and the super-cool Darth Vader carrying case....
My cousin had lots of the GI Joes, and he would bring them up to grandma and grandpa's farm. There was lots of natural limestone at the place, and
lots of Joes got into all kinds of rock-climbing fights and similar scenarios.
Great thread, I had GoBots, some G.I. Joe and M.A.S.K. vehicles + action figures, of course tons of Star Wars merchandise and I'd like to add the
below items to your list (pure nostalgia).
the stomper was always my favorite as a kid lol. i remember my brother and i had some speaker wire we hooked up inside and held the battery in our
hand we could make them go in reverse by switching the wires on them. to us around 6 or 7 it was like a remote controlled car before the rc cars got
popular. the good old days.
Star and flag! I remember nearly all of these, I was born '81.
It was cool that you mentioned MASK. Fun fact, those guys were a perfect fit for the scale replica supercars you could get back then. I forget the
manufacturer but I used to put MASK figures in my Ferrari F40 and Lamborghini Countach. The seatbelts even fit lol.
As for Micro Machines, I still play the video games to this day. There is a cool one on Google Play, check it out!
