Kinda takes away from his alleged instruction to have faith, doesn't it...people who truly believe in something unseen should neither require "proof" of it, nor feel the need to provide unsolicited "proof" for people who exercise their own innately provided free will and choose to have faith in other things...or in nothing at all.

It is an endless source of fascination for me; how often people in this world profess to have some profound cosmic insight into all things Jesus, yet the only "proof" they ever offer seems to be that of their own inherent faithlessness. That is the only thing being proven here, too.

I should have taken it as a play on words. Too late to go back and edit my post and claim that I got the joke quickly rather than lately.

It's cool, no worries. I knew you got it ahead of time and were just being nice for anyone else who may not have got it.

1) What year is it? 2017. It is 2017 to EVERYONE on Earth. Every check or document you sign atheist or theist is dated 2017. That is precisely 2017 years since the birth of Jesus Christ. This fact must REALLY get the goats of all those Atheists who have to acknowledge the year in which we live... maybe they could file a federal lawsuit!

How come our calendar is called the "Gregorian" calendar and not the Jesus Christ calendar? How come it wasn't adopted until around 1600 years after Jesus' birth, if he existed at all. How come it replaced the Julian calendar, which marked the birth of Julius Caesar just 46 years earlier?

How come Julius Caesar's effigy was displayed on a cross? Why does a coin commemorating his death feature a comet/star?

Was Jesus of Nazareth, if he existed, really Caesarian?

No its not.

only those that follow the Gregorian Calendar.

That is precisely 2017 years since the birth of Jesus Christ.

precisely?

Its debatable but I wouldn't say precisely.

This fact must REALLY get the goats of all those Atheists who have to acknowledge the year in which we live... maybe they could file a federal lawsuit!

what fact?

Why would it 'goat' anyone to acknowledge what year it is?

2) Jesus Christ is the single most influential figure in all of human history. His name is known across all races, creeds, ethnicities, geographic boundaries and even time itself.

Um, his name is even debated.

Many with good reason say that translated his name would be Joshua.

Even at the time of Jesus' life, the term Christ wasn't his Title, so at that time and in the past that name wasn't known.

Proof of his resurrection lies directly in the behavior of his followers, who were so terrified of the Roman Guard that they denied Jesus while he lived to save their own skin.

So because Peter denied he knew Jesus, that is somehow proof that his followers denied him and also somehow proves the resurrection.

Sorry I don't see how it even remotely proves anything like that.

I understand my personal experience is no proof to you... but I never claimed to provide YOU with proof... only to present proof.

You never claimed that you will provide or present me or any individual any proof but you did claim to all readers that its proof of this or that, you just didn't claim to provide proof to any individual.

Which is why the entire world turns on a timetable marked by his birth... most of whom HATE him and deny him at every turn.

More that half the world believe in Jesus to be a very important figure in this existence.

Who are the "most" that hate him?

Now... my atheist friends... commence the trolling

So you create a troll thread?

Seriously what is the point?

If this is your attitude and you are already concerned other have different beliefs what is the point of wasting your breath or wasting space in the internet world?

I am with you on a belief in Christ, but you are going to have to put on your big boy panties if you want to post here. This ins't GLP. FIrst, making a thread with ""proof" in the title, and it not being a joke, is stupid, don't be that guy.
Second, when well reasoned arguments are brought, making a stupid ass comment like you just did, isn't going to win anything but more ridicule. Again, don't be that guy.

Read more, talk less, learn how the forum and it's members work. This place is amazing and has some of the sharpest minds you will find anywhere, but you have to be up to the challenge, as of now, it isn't looking like you are.

And Welcome to ATS!

I can feel the hatred seething through your teeth as you type your response.

Where does that hatred come from?

yes I am talking to you.

B.C. Before Christ recently trying to be changed to Before the Common Era... but FAILING.

Not Before Caesar. What a hardy laugh. You can pretend to follow any calendar you want, but when you join the rest of the WORLD... guess what you have to play ball.

The year is 2017.

As a follower of Jesus, I have to agree with you Tucket.

If he is truly 'new', he will figure out the burden of "proof" is significantly higher than the norm around here.

3 or 4 AD is the going idea. Jesus was a toddler when Herod issued a decree killing all Jewish babies. Works of Josephus.

Wait, Caesarion gets to be the son of a god and I only get to call him uncle? Not fair.

Most people don't know who or what Jesus was, even those that "worship" him. I suggest you read, Arcane Schools by John Yarker. Still not definitive, but it will without a doubt cause you to pause and reevaluate your position.

Here is your motivation:

There exists in Thibet and India a "Secret Doctrine" which is of unquestioned antiquity, and of which analogical confirmation may be found in the writings of the ancient Philosophers. This doctrine allows for the existence in extreme antiquity of a sunken continent in the Pacific ocean, of which the present islands are mountain tops, and in the Atlantic ocean of seven islands, the last of which sank beneath the waters about the period which we have assigned for a great cataclysm, or 12,500 years ago.

Yeah, that's the point. For someone who would have been arguably the most important person to ever exist, nobody actually knows when he was born, not even the day or month. People can only come up with various guesses because there's no actual record of it happening.

You should probably start off with "absolute proof that jesus existed" before you make the leap to "god." I'm just saying...

There is no historical proof that this "jesus" ever really graced the world with his presence. No historical records of the period. (And the romans were pretty good at keeping records.)

but I never claimed to provide YOU with proof... only to present proof.

Good. Because you didn't present any proof. Only hearsay.

It isn't exactly 2,017 years since the birth of Jesus. I think the error is somewhere between +/- 35.

He isn't the most influential person that ever existed...I think 1/200 of all people have the blood of Genghis Khan in them...That's real influence.
