A 60-year-old Texas woman wasn't taking any chances Monday morning when she heard two intruders enter her home, grabbing her pistol and shooting one of the would-be thieves dead, police said.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, confronted the two armed men after they entered her Harris County home through an open garage door around 11:30 a.m., WTSP reported.

Texas woman shoots, kills home intruder

I'm not into celebrating the death of a person, however, n this case, I say good for this brave woman. Two scumbags likely thought they could take advantage of an elderly woman, alone in her home. It is very likely had she not been allowed to arm herself, she would have been (killed or worse) during this break-in by these two thugs.

Harris County Sheriff's Office's spokesman Thomas Gilliland told WTSP that both intruders -- neither of whom were identified -- were armed with pistols when the woman confronted them. She fired several shots and struck at least one man, who collapsed and died in her front yard.

Police found a gun next to the dead man's body. His accomplice jumped over the fence and escaped, though it's unclear if he was wounded in the incident.

I sure hope they find the second scumbag, and he spends some hard time in prison.

Gotta love the lack of descriptions on the intruders again.
Oh well, can't feel sorry for someone being shot committing a crime.

Woman legally defended herself and her home, is it really that important to you to know who broke in? Criminals are criminals, regardless.

When you are looking for the second intruder, isn't his description kinda important?

The report is sexist, since the intruders are described as being men. I guess that isn't a problem in providing a description, so all Texas law enforcement officials should be on the lookout for a man.

To a police report and APB, sure.
To a news article?

Who gets to decide what's important to a news article? When the truth is hidden or omitted that's a problem.

If an armed criminal is on the loose in my neighborhood, I'd sure as hell want to know what he looks like.

The possibility doesn't strike you that all she saw was dark clothing and the underwear?

Usually when people on ATS are condemning the news for not reporting a full description it's because they want to push their agenda about who is responsible for all the crime in the world.

Red underwear.
Man in his 20s.

Sounds like she got a pretty good look.

Better get out of ostrich mode.
Your head is way to deal in the sand.

Lol.

Red underwear would stand out like highbeams at night if the rest of his outfit was dark/black and muted in tone. Picking out a detail like that doesn't mean she got a "good" look.
20's stands a better chance of implying she got a good look at him, but could be picked up on from other factors. Dude could have been wearing a ski mask, or literally anything else over his face.

My heads not in the sand, I just see a number of possibilities for why more description isn't there.

But hey, attack the poster all you want, that's the ATS trend now.

WTSP
"It's the state of Texas, if you're going to go into someone's home, you're going to get shot," said Cathy Hanks, a neighbor. "That's really how we are. That's just Texas."

Hah aint that he truth. In other news, someone commented on similar news in Europe, but it went more like this:

Its Europe, if you're going to go in someone's home, you're going to get to rape and murder them, take whatever you want and leave. That's just Europe

or if they succeed in self-defense with violence

Its Europe, if you are going to go into someones home, at least you can sue and have them arrested if they did not run away or cower in the fetal position like a little bitch and used force to defend themselves. That's really how we are, thats just Europe

We need to convince the people of Europe they need to be Armed like the USA. And then immigrant rapists would likely think twice when they start getting shot down in the streets for molesting minors and women.
Plus, if we flood the European civilian market with guns, our dividends will pay nice for the companies that enter the market.

Every human on Earth should be carrying a weapon with them at all times. The institutions that protect civilians will not always be effective or available.

there was a similar story here in phoenix, az from a year or two ago. A couple of guys entered a house through an open garage door. Only these guys killed the 2 elderly woman inside, then stole whatever they wanted.

So which side of the story would you rather be on?

Nice shooting ma'am.
2 poor scumbags....you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
Too bad she didn't drop both of them.

Good for her (and her neighborhood)...bad for the dead. We all have choices in life. They made theirs...she was forced to make hers...either them or her. They lost, she won.

Great.

I live in Texas. When they omit the racial component of the description.........we all know what that component is. How does that work? If the perp is white or Hispanic, they mention that in the news reports. Of course, it can be said that a self-censoring Press for the purposes of the agenda of political correctness is hardly a "free" press.
