Osirisnet publication of the tomb of Amenenhat (TT 82)

TT 82 stands for "Theban Tomb #82" and it's found in Luxor on the West Bank, a few miles the Valley of the Kings where Hatshepsut and Tutankamun were buried. This area has a group of tombs (quite a few, actually) of nobles from this era.

Amenemhat, who was active during the reign of Thutmoses II, held the positions of "steward of the Vizier", and "scribe who reckons the corn in the granary of the divine offerings of Amun” In his tomb we see examples of reused spells from the Pyramid Texts; text that is unusual for men of his station at that time. Because of its preservation, TT82 gives us a lot of insight into funeral practices of that time.

Amenemhat's tomb contains the oldest known magic bricks - items associated with childbirth.

They're English.

"Corn" is the English name for what Americans call "wheat." What Americans call "corn" is actually "maize."
