Yes, I haven't carried in a while, either, due to a rotator cuff injury and surgery. And I fully agree that ANYONE willing to take on the
responsibility of carrying a firearm and who is willing to put themselves in harms way, either as a target or a protector/defender of anyone/anything,
training and being in shape is a fundamental that is too often overlooked or disregarded in general.
I don't think that you're anti-cop, and I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment that physical fitness matters. Hell, half the time I see a LEO, I
say, "Well, I get most people could outrun that guy." It's a sad reality that they are not held to tighter standards. When I was in the military (was
a paralegal), I had to type up many "overweight chapters" to administratively remove people from service due to an unwillingness to remain fit--all
first responders should be held to similar standards.
