If you look at how easy it would be to set up some mind control electronics, and just do the equivalent of broadcast it out on the most powerful and far reaching bands availible - taking care to ensure that you also had frequencies broadcasting that would mean your radiowave style piracy would go un-noticed by those who would normally spot such things,

then you could make loads of people become obsessed with trivial boring crap, while you went ahead and got on with your life.
