That clip is AWESOME. Why does the moon have so many craters? Neither Earth or Mars have anywhere near that amount. Have any new craters appeared in the past 40 years...since we landed on the moon?

Earth got hit just as much as the Moon, but the fact that it has a thick atmosphere means many smaller impactors burned up before reaching the ground. The craters that did form were eventually erased by erosion, tectonics, and many other processes that happen on our planet but don't happen on the Moon.

Wow, that's a great video, thanks for uploading! I like how you managed to capture Tycho crater and its central peak.

Was wondering that myself.

Excellent!

Lovely shot of Clavius too.

Disappointed in the lack of camera shake, weird distortions, insects masquerading as spaceships and the absence of spooky music, but otherwise great job

Hello GBP, thank you! Is reflector size the diameter of the mirror? It is a 6in I believe.

lol look close enough and you might see something. It's really cool on my iPhone I can zoom in on the video and really inspect the craters. I see a lot of interesting things in that video when zooming, but maybe I have played the Moon base map in Call of Duty zombies a little too much...

For example, the huge crater that has two smaller (very noticeable) craters inside of it looks like one of the craters is a Bio-dome with a huge circle saw next to it...

Your pic isn't working, but I know which crater you're talking about.

Here it is as seen by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (image rotated to match your view:
