So it's a BMP built on a tank chassis?

No criticism from me. That sort of fills in a whole lot of gaps they both had.

That should make the urban fights to weed out the terrorists in Syria a little easier.

These things are absolute monsters. When it sees action in Syria it'll be the platform's baptism of fire. First time ever used in combat.

It'll be interesting to see if it lives up to it's reputation. Hopefully it'll be given to one of those new Russian-trained formations instead of the Militia. They'd make the best use of it.

A well placed rocket grenade around the track area and it will be just another pile of battlefield junk. Why do they think that it's all new when the drive chain is exactly the same as a Sherman or Panzer or Tiger.

Not quite. It has no transport capacity. A transport vehicle based a tank would be something like the Russian BTR-T or Israeli Namer. The Israelis like their tank-based APCs.

It was specifically designed to provide a support platform for tank formations. The idea is one of these things goes with a tank platoon (3 tanks in Russian military doctrine) to provide fire support with it's autocannons and anti-tank missiles. Mostly in Urban areas where Infantry can easily flank tanks from elevated positions.

Oh weird... I just assumed they were full of army dudes. So it's almost strictly anti-soft targets.

I like the BMPT better actually.

This system will be well received in the Syrian Army. Here is eight minutes in their daily life as of lately.

And then the humans used IEDs and the machines lost...

Truth is,any vehicle is vulnerable in an urban environment,even with added armour.
This vehicle would do best at night, at a distance spotting, taking down bad guys and buildings.

Off topic: Don't know why they don't airburst teargas or use other biochemical incapasants(non-lethal) on cities and towns and then just storm them at night,could save a few lives imo.

You would ne d all the luck in the world to get one of the most inaccurate shoulder fired projectiles in the world to take that track off. Even then I would bet that an RPG wouldn't have what it takes to knock it off. Btw the principal may be the same but we sure don't use anything close to the drive "chain" of WWII tanks these days...It's drive train too in case that wasn't just a spelling error.

RPG has a max effective range of about 200 meters. Terminator can shoot at several kilometers away. Once infantry locate the building the enemy is in, Terminator can blast that building from distances well outside the range of RPG.

To think RPG can shoot Terminator is like saying RPG can shoot a bomber plane. Just not gonna happen.

Thats right, it is vulnerable, just like every piece of equipment on Earth. The Abrams is a rather formidable tank, but at least a dozen of those were lost trying to get Mosul back since October last year.

Regardless, this BMPT can send lots of hurt towards its targets with good accuracy. It appears capable of taking on a Bradley IFV, but I don't think it would fare too well against an Abrams.

Hopefully in a few years these can join other tank competitions in the world to see how they hold up in relation to other NATO and Asian tanks. The Japanese have some serious tanks that do not look to dissimilar to this Terminator.

If armoured vehicles were useless junk then no Army would use them, would they?

As it stands practically every army, and every single serious one, has armoured vehicles.
