Rep. Royce praises arrest warrants for Turkish security forces

I've already hit the ground running on this, and sources in the ME have advised the high probability that innocent U.S. citizens will be detained / arrested in retaliation. Once again the tech-head children and that's what they are, have forgotten the meaning of diplomat. You do not take a bad situation and make it worse, you resolve it. Peacefully and quietly.

This is going blow up in the faces of a lot of people.
I have personnely witnessed the Security Services of at least six known major western powers do the exact same thing with no retaliation from the host country.

D.C. police are expected to announce arrest warrants for 12 members of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan security team who attacked peaceful pro-Kurdish protesters outside the Turkish ambassador’s residence on May 16. The men left the country with the Turkish president but with warrants out for their arrest, they could face imprisonment if they return to the U.S.

As much as I disagree with the protesters, I feel this is the right thing to do. I'm unsure how effective these warrants will be, but It's definitely not right for other countries government officials coming over here and attacking people using their rights. They can take that BS back to their own oppressive governments.

It seems two individuals were already detained, but no word on who they were.

Kinda hard to "quietly" PNG people that aren't in the country anymore. I don't see how they could "quietly resolve" this in any way other than warrants. Not like Turkey is going to extradite for this.

Those two were not part of the formal delegation. They are on there own.

You don't make mountains out of mole hills. The relationship is already delicate and you don't exacerbate it with action that tends to be insulting.
There is a hundred different things that could have been done behind the scenes but nooooooo lets create a new diplomatic incident out of thin air.
Bull in the china shop diplomacy.
This was a staged event to have protesters there when Erdogan arrived.
This is just a minor dust up, I've seen and been directly involoved in much worse.
They just underestimated the Turks ability to kick that ass.

You get a formal private apology and maybe a few bucks for doctor bills and let it go.
We are / will have to deal with the Turks in three major international operations at present and maybe more in the near future. Remember its the ME and alliances change by the day. You can't go around poking people in the eye with a sharp stick and expect positive results.

You disagree with protesters? You mean the kurds? They weren't exactly Bernie sanders people, they were kurdis turks who have been bullied and Beat by the Islamic Republic of turkey under erdogan.

Not the protest or the Kurds. I personally know Peshmerga assets. The U.S. action in retaliation to make some low level political points .

When some poor innocent American tourist dies or becomes deathly ill while in Turkish custody, I hope their little grandstanding play is remembered.

Personally, I would have felt better if the police drew their guns and forced all the guards onto the ground for a public arrest. Of course one of the fools would have been all "who do you think you are!? Do you know who we are!?" and thats when a nice tasering would have been in order.

What does he mean by "America's Hans and George?" Is this some saying in Turkey?? Who is he referring to??? Maybe its an insult?? Perhaps he meant Smith & Wesson! I sure am curious.

So basically we should bow down to crazy dictators because they may threaten American tourists?

I think you have this pretty backwards.

This happened on the news in front of America so they have to do something or appear complacent.
