If I'm not mistaken this type of rainfall phenomenon falls from a cloud type called;
Burstus Pipeus Somewhereus Atus Theus Topus Ofus Theus Apartmentus Blockus.
Easy to identify really, doesn't move and falls in a near linear fashion.
