Generating just 20% of US electricity with wind power would require some 185,000 1.5-MW turbines, up to 18 million acres of land, and 245 million tons of concrete, steel, copper, fiberglass and rare earth metals. Multiply that times global needs, and you get the picture.

Well yeah that kinda gets back to my point about these technologies not being commercially viable yet. It's been a tremendous waste of money and resources trying to force it, with little to know impact on the climate.

“The U.S. has stated that they will not renegotiate the Paris accord, but they will try to review the terms on which they could be engaged under this agreement,” European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete said.

In a statement Saturday afternoon, a White House spokeswoman said the administration’s position on Paris had not changed, but also noted that the president’s stance on withdrawing from the deal had never been set in stone.

Fascinating! Every time I see a headline where President Trump is showing flexibility, I think of Steve Bannon's comment, that the Trump Presidency will not be what his voters hoped for. The hard-line, "my way or the highway" stance is gone.

When Trump set the wheels in motion to pull out of the Paris Accord he said CLEARLY that he wanted to renegotiate it for better terms. Nothing at all has changed. It's just the passing of time leaves minds open to manipulative news stories.

From his announcement a few months ago:

"In order to fulfil my solemn duty to protect America and its citizens, the United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord... but begin negotiations to re-enter either the Paris accord or a really entirely new transaction on terms that are fair to the United States," he said.

He's not renegotiating it though. He simply realized that it's non binding (which everyone at the time knew anyways), and that he can pledge anything and then not follow through, including changing what Obama pledged to.

It's a complete reversal of his position.
