Losing points what does it do?

How does the point system work, I got a warning and it said i lost 500.

At first I thought that meant stars, but they didn't go down so I looked, and it says points.

Does anyone know?

That just means they've sent a gremlin to mess with your cars points system.

Just get some sandpaper.

It's a leftover from when we had points. No points are taken or given anymore.

There was a time when we had our points in the mini-profile and it wasn't uncommon to see some members with a deficit. Warns were pinned to the profile for a period of time too.

Ive gotten a few thousand the last few months as well. What do I do with them....and why keep getting them if its a holdover from past policies....???

Its always nice to get a pat on the back of course!!! I think we'd all like to get a better understanding....why do we keep getting them, and still losing them then???

SO's updated the site a couple of times since 2009ish. The body text of staff auto-PMs didn't change. Whatever the language, they're just semiotics.

Points given = 'Well played' or 'Well stated.'

Points deducted = 'Not cool.'

In the days when we could still do things with points, I lashed out and spent 200 on this mini-profile background colour.
Worth every penny.

To date, my efforts to convince the owners to give us a dollar a point have been unsuccessful.

I can't imagine why.

Back in 2007 when the secret forum was actually a secret you had to use your points to gain access to it. I think that was about it.
