I wish this movie could make it nationwide, everyone gets to tell their story, Schindler's List, Roots, Amistad, Laagan, well finally my people get to tell it. The movie is called GUIANA 1838. It is the story of my country, the story of Indians, the story of Africans, and those who form the country of Guyana.

Since it might not make it to a theatre near you, please read the article and check out the trailer.

Btw, I so excited to see Kumar Guarav in this movie, I fell in love with him in Love Story and in Kaante (bollywood remake of Reservoir Dogs)

DARN! My parents and grandparents and such came from Guyana... I'd love to see this to learn more about my heritage. Too bad I live way up in NY and the movie seems exclusive to Florida right now.

Guess I'll wait for a DVD release or something. I'd certainly love to see it, though.

Oh well.

Worldwatcher, when you see the movie, give us a nice review!

So I went to see it without the Kids, glad I did, they would have been bored.

Scenery and Imagery was good. The story of Indentured Labourers imo is too grand to fit into a 2 hour movie. I think it may have been over edited. I found certain scenes were "missing". You can get lost a bit if you don't pay attention. Overall a good effort and definitely something I am proud to support with my movie dollars, but I think I could have written a better screenplay for the story.

All Guyanese, Blacks and Indians should see this movie though.
