I know what you mean. My sister was molested by my grandfather and was brave enough to come forward. It went to court. There was a big split in my
family, some standing with my immediate family and half on his side. Both sides had lots of his victims, but some were in denial and resented my
sister for speaking out, while others applauded her and testified against him. My grandmother took my grandfather's side and spread rumours about my
father having child pornography and that my sister had seduced our grandfather. Kids at school would ask my sister stupid questions, like why did she
seduce her grandfather or did she enjoy it. A man who was married to a woman on our grandfather's side was a teacher at our school and one day, out in
the ball field with a bunch of boys, he pointed to my sister and said, "That's the girl who lies." He got in trouble for this and had to apologise,
but he was not fired.
My sister had to endure all this and then face him on the stand. The judge found him guilty of molesting his own granddaughter for a period of two
years. For this he was sentenced to 2 years probation! This was my introduction to the so called 'justice system.'
