Hello ATS

I think this is one of the most appropriate songs I came across on internet to share here. This guy sings in Sumerian, plays the old sumerian instrument at the same time. It is the famous Epic of Gilgamesh.

I think the poem was written when the mankind settled down and farming started. It says very deep and interesting stuff and again feels like those guys were put there on purpose and came from the heavens. =)

Enjoy!

Nice however sounds very "western" I dont think there is any evidence of what Sumerian music would sound like...

Here's another video of his

I tried to listen to what he was saying and I know some of the Sumarian language a tad bit, but I can't seem to get anything like the subtitles out of the song. Maybe it is because it is being sung, I kind of can get some of the meaning when it is spoken. Well, to be honest, I can't actually tell what many rock singers are saying either.

I guess knowing some of the basic sounds does not give you the ability to know what someone is saying. In the subtitles they use words that would never have existed back three thousand years ago.

Both videos were amazing. Thanks for posting.

One can really imagine the song and the instruments being played in some great hall in ancient Sumeria.

LOL - thats like saying theres no difference between 12 bar blues and an adaggio by Bach.

There is no written notation of what Sumerian music sounded like - all they have is some instruments.
