Only 2 options.

Some butt hurt people told on them, or invasion of privacy.

That would be under the definition of "bringing it to the school" and "reporting the cyberbullying" as it involves other students AT school. And that would definately cause disruptions.
Just trying to see the school's point of view.

If they invaded their privacy then they are in the wrong and should be sued.

Or, the student's instagram account was public, in which case anyone could see it (like teachers or other school staff).

I wouldn't argue with whatever the case may be for the fellow that posted the photo.

My issue is more with the others that liked the photo. One guy got suspended for a "yep" comment. I mentioned earlier in the thread, is there a difference between somebody that likes a photo with somebody that doesn't, even if they both feel the same way?

Based on what we know, I agree with your point. They went too far when it could have been addressed through the usual pastoral channels.

Hey if you want to get "politically correct" with it. Go ahead.

It's really not a surprise.

Half these idiots think tweeting about feeding the homeless is the same as actually feeding the homeless.

So when some idiot does something racist online, they figure it's as bad as burning a cross on someone's lawn then shooting them then hanging them from a tree.

The blurring of lines between words and actions are ever growing these days. Some people even consider words and thoughts to be forms of violence.

And this is why humoring the left seems more like chugging dog poo tea.

I've always condemned them and called out for them to stop. But fortunately they are not that many out there. Most are on social network sites whining so we can safely ignore them.

I know if I were you I'd want nothing of any association with SJW's, BLM, PC, Obama, the Clinton's, the Democrat Party, etc.

I figure out something else to call myself; I'd find others like me; I'd start threads about it; I'd make #hashtags; etc.

Otherwise you're just doomed to take offense when people call out "liberals', what they've become, and inevitably end up defending them.

It's so they can control what you think, how you think.

I'm sorry but free speech does not include threats of murder or intimidation because drawing a noose around a black man's neck is certainly intimidation of another human being.

The protestor deserves a medal. Js.

I think once we lose freedom of thought (in many ways we have) we officially enter full blown Orwellian. We might as well be branded with a barcode at birth (in many ways we are) and become mindless robots (ditto).

Wait a minute..

I don't think anyone is condoning supressing the freedom of speech. This is school and students we are talking about. And it's up to the SCOTUS.

It's not my place to tell you what specifics by which to go by, any more than it would be to tell a counter mainstream conservative contingent what to think and go by.

I'm merely an Alt-Alt.

You should do a thread.

This is school and students we are talking about.

That's where the real problem is.

If this were a 20 year old man, I'd be much more concerned. But this is a kid. Kids do dumb things. That's how they learn. That's also why we don't let them drive, and try to keep them away from porn. They do not yet have the mentality to operate as a full member of society.

It used to be that folks would see kids doing stoopid, yell at them to stop, tell their parents, then later laugh about kids being kids. Today, we see kids doing stoopid, call the police, have them arrested, and sentence them to a lifetime as a felon. And yes, most of it comes from the 'left' who are constantly crying about how people should be more compassionate and tolerant.

I know there is a general fear of Columbine-type events carried out by kids gone wrong. But to this day, I find it ironic that these types of events are increasing right along with tighter gun control and stricter punishments for lesser offenses. In other words, the cure is making the patient sicker.

No, we need to return to common-sense approaches that worked before Columbine. Police called for firearms possession at school, not for disobeying the teacher. Hire teachers and principals that are capable of dealing with unruly kids, and use suspension as a final resort, not a reaction to a 3rd grader drawing a picture of him playing with a water gun. Forget trying to police outside the school... police better inside the school. Work with parents, not against them... they're the ultimate Authority where their kid is concerned. And for Pete's sake, don't teach one thing in the classroom and something else outside it! Children still have rights. It's no wonder an entire generation doesn't understand Civics!

Why is it racism that is the censored speech that's always fought over in 'free speech' violations?

No one seems to give a damn about people censored in other circumstances.

It's often remarked by these same right wing retards your free speech has limits of consequence, when it's appropriate for their agenda.

This is a limit of consequence. Duh. You don't think there is a racist website you can move your activity to instead of sprawling it all over one of the most public formats on the planet? It's against Facebooks T&C to be racist; it's extremely loosely enforced because they don't like dealing with 'free speech' asshats who really are just racists veiling their hate in American Constitution. I wouldn't be shocked if Instagram was similar.

People that defend this as 'free speech' as sick in the head for not addressing the content. It's one thing to fight for others to have freedom in their words, it's another to support the message they're sending. I often wonder what side you're really on. "Free Speech" or "Die Blacks".(It's almost ALWAYS black people aswell)
