The same reason we're ot able to warp across the universe is the same reason we're not much better than clueless about climate change (its meanings, what to do about, etc):
We're just not smart enough yet.......

I was thinking one way to combat ocean level rising, just in case the glaciers are adding more water in the long run;

Palm jamera, palm island, things like that is the opposite of what I'd do.

I'd dredge the sea floor in places where it'd be easy to build mountain ranges, to displace enough Earth that extra water has a place to go without inundating coastal communities like we're supposedly expecting.

Since Trump took the oval office and is garnering oil like it's the point behind petro-dollars- climate change being a farce now?

Blame it on the petro-dollar, it's that viscous goo in the center of the Earth that causes the Earth to rotate, but not really?

I control global warming.
I control the weather.
I control the whether or not you leave this plane.

Humanity was never meant to stay on Earth. We are destined to leave it. The sooner people realize this truth the more successful chance at saving the human race.

Regardless of the cost it takes to make such an effort. It all points in the best direction for the long term survival of the species past 1000 years.

This is crazy. Too many sci-fi movies man. The Truth is that we are totally made and created for earth. It is our home and everything we are is from the earth.

There is nowhere else that we know of that is more habitable for us than Earth. NOT ONE OTHER PLACE WE KNOW OF. Sure we've found some other planets which MIGHT be suitable for us to live with a great deal of effort and a whole lot of luck. Even that is only if we find a way to actually go there. But even if we could get there and somehow live and prosper there getting past all the new forms of disease and evolving to the climate and temp. and a million other problems, the majority of people will still be on Earth. The ones that leave would only be the most skilled and adaptable chosen people anyway. You and you're family tree won't see it. Mine either.

I'm not saying we shouldn't look into it. But we have a planet already that is perfectly suited for us that we come from and that has been our unique little home we've evolved to live on right now. Anywhere else even if it is already supporting life will be a radical change for us with unimaginable consequences. Let alone something crazy like having to jump start life on a dead planet. If we can't save our home you can bet we don't have a chance on some other planet without all the knowledge and familiarity of things like we have here at home.

Starting a new world up isn't something that a dying species who's killing their own home planet does. It's something a functioning species does who's learned how to live in balance with it's own home and can budget the resources and energy in excess to start a new world. To think we can both be destroying our home planet while creating a new one or relocating is a fantasy. You first need an abundance of resources and material to make that leap, not a deficit of it. You need focus and unity for that not war and conflict.

Except we cant even travel 1% of light speed yet........................................................................................................

Good point, however, just like electricity and the electric motor, it takes one discovery or invention to leap ahead.

Interstellar travel probably wont be about conventional speed related to the speed of light. it will probably involve quantum entanglement and superposition. The idea about locking onto specific spectral signatures of stars seems interesting.

And as for global climate change. At this time we only have one planet. Gambling with the continuity of our environment and our specie's survival seems a bit foolish, unless we prioritize solutions so that we are mitigating risk.

There is no time for patience, it's time to act.

Global Impact(I) = (P)opulation (A)ffluence (T)echnology.

If you want to act immediately, it would require a dramatic reduction in all factors that effect global impact.

I probably should have been annoyed with the thread getting derailed with outer space scifi fantasies, but since the resident liberals / global warming alarmists essentially avoided it like the plague, at least there was some activity herein today. To be fair, the 'deniers' wanted no such tales either.

I've personally been away on business for the week, but I don't see anything much worth responding to.

I have no vested interest in climate models.
