I thought this vid was pretty clever and it made me think of ATS. The story was very well done and it left me pondering the the potential furtherest reaches of intelligence, meshed with the vast expansiveness of space... food for thought indeed. Oh and that willful dematerialization was splendid.

The "godhood" notion is mine for speculation, and I'm not saying we all wish for godhood, but by definition could godhood include a level of accomplishment defined in this vid, with the ability to master matter?

Will AI usher us into godhood by accompanying our efforts with technology and intelligence? Or will it reach godhood and abandon us as unworthy and useless? Or…will it destroy us, considering us a threat.

Many these AI questions/issues have been through the mill here at ATS already, but I just wanted to share this vid, because I thought it was brilliant, humorous and speaks volumes on it's own.

That's a good video. I don't know Godhood has to do with anything. I didn't see any calls for worship.

I guess one could have said the same 100 years ago when the car was invented; was that an ability to master the known speed of horses.

No, not Godhood-hopefully, human kindness and understanding. I want to live in Star Trek TNG-extreme intelligence and humanity as well as respect for other living creatures. Yes, I am a big nerd and dreamer.

Haha no worshiping for sure, and religion didn't even cross my mind. By godhood I meant obtaining abilities that have been likened to those of a a god's, including creating worlds. Would that not be a natural drive for some with such abilities? The summation claimed by the android at the end and his journey thereafter could be considered 'god-like.'
I should have said more "Q"-like from STNG

Indeed it was, but I clarified "in this vid" meaning the ability to affect individual atoms and quantum structures, dematerialize at will and travel anywhere.

I think godhood may have been a bad word choice

Me too Justso, but I wonder if we will ever reach the status as the android did, that's even beyond Star Trek.
On an off note are you too excited for the new star trek series? I think they have a great cast and it will be another nice extension of the series.

We'd all like to see it, but I don't think humanity will ever accomplish it. We can't even get political parties to compromise enough to fix some relatively simple issues. How the hell are we ever going to become a space faring species? It's a nice thought, but that's all it is, a thought.
