At this point, whether the launch was "successful" or not really does not matter.

What matters, in terms of the politics of the issue, is that Kim even attempted a launch, in spite of mounting military pressure from the US, which NK knows to be a far stronger military force AND against the wishes of NK's only ally, China. Even with 150,000 Chinese troops amassed on its border, Kim went ahead with the launch!

Kim apparently fears no other government nor the potential consequences of their wrath.

He is either far more brilliant, politically, than either of the leaders of China or the US,

Or he is absolutely, bats**t barking insane.

My money is on the latter.

And that is a very dangerous bet.

Why not? They work and are fairly bulletproof. All they really need is an INS system to navigate with. They're also more resistant to EMP like effects.

OK. That makes sense. What part of an older technology launch system would be most subject to jamming/sabotage, and what would be the preferred method for doing this, from another location...like from one of our Top Secret satellites?

You don't need to do anything to NK missiles to get a failure, they are renowned in the community for having a lot of issues with anything that complex. Missile launch failures are something they've mastered over the years.

As I pointed out before the recent failure...

Got to hand it to Kim, he's got some big, little man balls. His only ally is putting pressure on him to knock off all the provocations he's "attempting", WITH 150k of Chinese troops on the border.
Also China turning away their ships filled with coal, only to import coal from the U.S. instead, now that's what I call a slap in the face to Kim.
Not to mention the U.S. has the U.S.S. carl Vinson carrier strike group (plus more) near their waters, just itching to find a reason to strike them.

I also wonder if NK's top military officials have ever pondered attempting a coup? Replacing him it's a more rational and tolerant leader, compassionate twords his citizens and open to the west? We can only hope.

That sounds a lot like Jim Jones. It's all about control, not the survival of the country and its people. Even if only a few people in North Korea survive the attack, Un may still succeed at convincing them it was unprovoked.

With such proof of the bad nature of the outside world, they'll huddle even closer to him.

N. Korea's government has really never tried to improve the country's welfare or economy. Just maximize the leadership's own personal comforts. Even in after a nuclear strike Jim Jones Un could remain fat and happy in an underground bunker surrounded by beautiful women and eating fine steak while his people toil in fallout-infested fields above.
