Whats in Radar Absorbent Material??

I just hope nobody posts any information that someone could use to experiment with and/or copy the paint.

I realise that stealth is more than skin deep and involves a lot of careful design and material choice but if you already have the aircraft built and want to reduce its frontal RCS I was just saying that with the careful addition of RAM matting around or behind certain equipment and painting the leading edges of pylons, wings etc it was found you could reduce the head on RCS!. From the side it still shows up on radar like a flying barn door thanks to the rather large Fin!!!!!!

The rubber tiles down the intakes were to "soak" up the radar waves that were bounced back off the rotating compressor blades of the engines.

All it did in the end was to give the Iraqi air force a bit of a headache! What was coming at them, a little hawk or a much bigger and better armed F3.

I've seen a few articles on 'home stealth' designed for the purposes of making speed traps on the open road less effective (I have nothing but contempt for those that speed in towns but on a clear open road I think speed traps are all about raising revenues rather than a safety thing really).

A quality radar/laser detector is a must, naturally.

But I did read once about a guy who had covered the radiator, fairings and basically the entire bodywork of his motorcycle in a fine copperwire mesh which was then professionally painted over and effectively invisible.
It was tested and found to cut the detection range of the cop radar guns considerably.

Is it just very thin gold that is put onto cockpits, or is it some chemical with gold in it?

I dont know...That woud be pretty cool though.

I rode in a C-5 cockpit about 4 years ago, in the now-unused old navseat upon a landing in Denmark. Sorry to inform, but there is nothing remarkable in the C-5 cockpit. It's just your average transport bird, albeit very big
