Happy Monday to all!
This post is meant for all but might resonate more with those of you who were adolescents in the 90s (as was I).
REMEMBER these guys, the Counting Crows?

I had forgotten there were so many dudes in this band!

ATS, I have to say that I love this album. I know that it is a bit on the cheesy side, but I find the music to be meaningful and it speaks to my soul.

The feel I get from listening (aside from nostalgia) is one of stagnated hope, of a small town youth with big dreams.. I get the open space of the country, the wide-open horizons, but also the isolation, predictablity..
If I were honest, I would tell you that some of these songs can make me cry

But we don't need to go into that.

Anyway, enough about me. What do you think of the Counting Crows?

When I played drums in one of many bar bands in the late 90s, we used to play Mr Jones.
It was a fun tune to play, it would get all the girls on the dance floor.

Listening to Rain King right now.. it sounds like a great song for percussion!
LOL, any song that gets the girls to the dance floor is a success

I just listened to Rain King, yeah good song.
Same drum beat, slightly faster than Mr Jones.

One of my favorite songs about "love".

"If it's love," she said, "then we're gonna have to think about the consequences"..
she can't stop shaking, I can't stop touching her
and this time
when kindness falls like rain
it washes me away
and Anna begins to change her mind
"the seconds when I'm shaking leave me shuddering for days,"
she said
and I'm not ready for this sort of thing"

It is a good song, isn't it? The 90s just seem to carefree in retrospect (does this mean I'm getting old? Yep.) .. and I feel like this band captured the free 90s American spirit.

Adam Duritz has a unique voice that I think, really makes the band.
These guys are still going strong.
If you go to their website, it has a ton of audio and video on it.

You're right, Duritz has a great, interesting voice-- also he's an excellent songwriter. I agree that he really makes the band stand out from the pack.

Thanks for the info.. I had no idea that they were still together and making music!

This was one of my favorite albums when I was a kid. The song "round Here" was always one of my most favorites...right there with you on the songs bringing a tear to my eye.

TNM, Benderisfunny, to great memories, and to making more!

90s were truly good times for me I guess (these days are too, just in a less innocent way) and it's good to remember!
