I was able to help a gf I had with her anxiety. She was running a standard 110 beats per minute heart rate. Most likely she was hyperthyroid. Boron(10mg/day) and sodium ascorbate(in the gram levels taken per day) did wonders(boron helps eliminate fluoride from the body). It was incredible she was always cold, and the day after taking sodium ascorbate mixed into tea, she was just radiating heat, Ive never met a person with warmer hands. We got her down to 80 bpm heart rate and it really changed her personality even. It got rid of her desire to smoke almost instantly. Other than that I would say try to drink slightly alkaline water. Your body eliminates a different set of toxins when your urine is alkaline. And try some of the different herbs from Ayurveda and TCM like Fo-Ti. Made me feel 25 years younger. Naturalnews is your best one stop place for healthcare info. Healthcare was taken over by Rockefeller about 100 years ago..thats why its so crappy.

Is there anywhere online you could recommend for finding out more about this stuff (supplements, etc)? Thanks for the advice.

I have extreme anxiety but no one really knows it. it physically manifests as my neck and shoulders lock up, for 2 months straight at one point. Most painful thing I've experienced and 24 hours a day.

Just like me, you probably know deep down what is causing it. Unfinished #. Untended to #. Not doing things you were meant to do. Putting things off that you know should be worked on. When you finally decide to tend to and face certain things, you chip away at the anxiety bit by bit. I have a long way to go and about 15 years of catching up on thinking about something I should have been doing, and haven't done yet. Pharma is only a relief for symptoms and may cause other very serious side effects. Your mind is the only cure, and your will to face things that haven't been sorted out in your mind.

As others have mentioned, meditation is probably the single best thing you can start doing to allow the mind to be calm enough to start sorting the things out that need to be sorted. Once it is, it starts sorting on its own. You don't even have to think about it and you don't even know it's happening subconsciously.

I had anxiety when I was younger. Certain situations or events would start to make me nervous and I would wind up making myself sick.

I went to see a doctor about it, and he cured it so fast.
He said that in most cases, extreme anxiety was really the result of a domino effect. It starts off with something or someone that is bothering you, the more you think about it, your heart rate starts to go up and you unconsciously start breathing too much. This in turn makes you feel worse, and you breath heavier and your heart starts to race faster. This feedback loop can then land you in the hospital.

He told me that the next time I noticed the effects, to breath VERY SLOWLY into a small bag, and for a few breaths, do not take in air from the outside, but breath air from the bag back in, SLOWLY. If you feel yourself getting dizzy, then allow fresh air in for one breath and then continue for a half a minute.

This allows recovery of CO2, which will bring you back down very quickly. I will tell you that it works, and I have never had an out-of-control anxiety attack since those years, because eventually your mind and body understand what it really is, and you can control it without the bag.

I had crippling anxiety to the point i would avoid social contact at work, with friends, family etc. It WAS as bad as it gets.

I did a few things which didn't really work for me;

1. I saw a doctor and got prescribed meds. Needless my instincts told me not to take them.
2. I saw a Hypnotist, which had very little effect as anxious moments followed the next day.

Then months later i suddenly had an epiphany.

I accepted my condition and decided rather than fight each social situation i would just go with the flow. I looked inward at myself and thought how funny it was that i was living in this nightmare. Day after day suffering dread, fear, misery... No more! I just accepted these things were going to happen and rather than hide away i would face them head on - I stopped caring about the "what ifs". I started living in the moment.

Slowly but surely i worried less, stopped over thinking and eventually my anxiety disappeared.

Anxiety feeds off your fear and negative thoughts, starve it of this and it will get bored and go away. It really is this simple.

You are strong (although your sig pic give me anxiety). That is the secret to life...living in the moment. That is how I overcame my anxiety...however I needed meds to help.

Its so cliche yet so real and attainable. And once you can achieve it, yes...it does feel funny that you were so anxious and worried in the past.

One of the types of medication they use to treat Anxiety is Benzodiazepines Xanax Ativan Valume Klonopin ect.

I have schizophrenia and I take benzo's for it. Let me tell you they are one of the most addictive drugs I've come across.

They help with Anxiety but getting off them is a nightmare. The withdraws are worse then cigarettes. I get physically sick if I don't have my medication.

Cutting back on them makes my anxiety 10x worse then before I started taking them.

Once you start taking them there is little chance you will quit be forewarned.

You need to think about gaps in your health insurance. If your are hooked on this stuff and you loose your insurance your in trouble. Be prepared to get sick.

Do not let the above scare you. I was never addicted to xanax.

It's sad that it happened to him, but if you don't have an addictive personality, you really do not have to worry about the above post.

Please see a doctor and get on medication. You will be thankful. When the time comes...you can ween off of them.

Addiction to Benzo's isn't psychological. People become physically addicted to them. You may not have noticed the withdraws but if you took them long enough you had to experienced them in some form. I know someone that took Xanax for 20 years and if they had gone cold turkey they could have died from the withdraws. They were put in the hospital to withdraw from it under a doctors supervision. My doctors is a MD from the University of Michigan and specializes in addiction. He's no crackpot and works out of a hospital. I've been a patient of his for 17 years. I've spoken directly with him about Benzo's addiction. Benzo withdraws include sweats nightmares anxiety seizures and even death. Quitting Benzo's can put you under enough stress it can cause a heart attack. I've only been taking them for 3 years. At first I didn't recognize with withdraws. Withdraws from Benzos are different from cigarettes and other drugs. Long term use of Benzo's also causes memory problems and should be avoided if you have a family history of Alzheimers.

I know nothing of benzo but I do know that Doctors are aware of drugs that are super addictive and do not make plans out of prescribing it for the long run. You are instilling fear in prescribed drugs and im sorry it did not work out for you, but that is not the case for most.
