Pacing around my prison...

It's almost the anniversary of when I was locked up in the wilderness of my heart.

And yet, no options seem real.

Everything I've learned has changed me.

Call it pessimism; I call it realism.

Waking up from my nightmare, demonic things are haunting me. I wish they'd go away, but an illusion is not a memory.

I'm starting to see what they mean - everything I've been through is meant to be.

Call it superstition, but I know that it's my mission.

Waking up, pacing around; the glass is half-full, but only with cheap coffee black... As I attempt to recall, as I attempt to discern what it means for me to be.

What does it mean for me to be always fighting?
And then falling?
And then flying, and then yearning, and then fighting.

Anxiety isn't irrational and pain is not not real simply because the threat seems to have vanished; for the true damage doesn't occur until one finally escapes the torture. That's when the floodgates open.

And then, years feel like decades, but youth is replaced by the grey by the day - until the mirror masks the one who once confronted the one who refused to be called a victim.

Now I dream of a new reality; one you deliberately tried to get me to disbelieve. But I won't because I know the truth:

I will be set free from your slavery.

I developed an odd habit of reading everything backwards to make sure I didn't miss anything in high school. I don't remember exactly why, though.
