Trump admin begins first steps to improve relations with Russia

While Trump heads to NATO meeting in Brussels in May, Tillerson takes the first steps to improve relations with super power Russia with a state visit in April. Russia is an extremely important ally in the battle against jihadists. To beat jihadists, there must be full cooperation between America and Russia, just like in WW2 when America and Russia together crushed Germany and Japan and Italy.

I'm sorry, but I really cannot see things improving at all.

The major areas where the USA and Russia are at loggerheads with are Ukraine, Syria and those sanctions. Trump has already said that Russia must return Crimea to Ukraine in order for the sanctions to be dropped. The last administration said that too. And Crimea is still claimed by Russia.

As for Syria, Trump has sent in more troops. How is that going to improve relations when the USA and Russia have opposing ideas of what should happen there? I've been calling for the USA and Russia to co-operate from the day Russia entered to prop up Assad. Putin went to New York when Obama was around to try and work out a co-operative deal and got told to 'get lost pal'

Trump is just making noises so that when Putin tells him to go away he can blame Russia and claim he tried to keep an election promise.

The US is not involved in Ukraine. Ukraine doesn't dare fight Russia for Crimea. Ukraine is a non issue for Trump.

It's a good thing Obama didn't put any economic sanctions on Russia. Boeing sells like hot cakes in Russia. If there were economic sanctions, this would not be possible.

ETA, I personally do not believe that Russia is the bad guy here BTW. I think it is being victimised and politicised by the American establishment. What it is trying to do in Syria is the right thing in my eyes. As for Crimea - let them have it. Ukraine is a bankrupt backwater bunghole that runs on corruption. Ukraine is really a battle between Russia and the EU for whom gets to influence them. Russia would prefer 'buffer'nations between itself and the west. I don't see why that is an issue for either side - a whole country acting like a sort of DMZ to avoid conflicts sounds like a good idea to me.

The sanctions are personal, not economic. 40 years from now, the people sanctioned by Obama die of old age, and no more sanctions.

Aren't they being investigated over the possibility of being too close to the old Russkies?

Which is it, improve relations between the Russians the POTUS camp, or call in the debt on the POTUS camp?

Because from what I am witnessing, they are playing us and dividing us and I am seeing more and more of this Bullshine.

I dont know why we would want to improve relations. After what the russians did to apollo creed. Sanctions 4 life. Bomb their vodka depots!
