Because businesses exist for one reason: to maximize profits. I realize there are some who find this distasteful, but it is the reality of business... if it doesn't make dollars, it doesn't make sense. If minorities made better CEOs, most companies would have minority CEO

I did. Shall we break this down and analyze the syntax?

Your statement shows why programs like this are needed, unless you have some metrics that would show that whites do actually make better CEO's over minorities?

It's not even about metrics or statistics. I all boils down to how ambitious people are. You people are acting like there are 0 African American CEOs or Female CEOs.

Like the ratio of black white female CEO's will have a 50/50 split by some twist of fate.

Its all about the metrics.

So you say its all about ambition? So are you suggesting that blacks and women just aren't ambitious enough?

No what I'm stating is that it is down to the individual. You aren't going to bait me into some mindless convo then call me a racist. Everything I have stated in this thread has been from a logical neutral viewpoint.

How about the common sense metric of businesses' primary concern is always making the most money possible? Corporations are color blind except where green is concerned. That is an undeniable fact... if they stood to make more money with a minority or woman in the big chair, then the majority of corporations would have a minority or woman in that chair.

As I said earlier, we can absolutely discuss why, in 2017, minorities and women aren't perceived by corporations to be their best avenue to maximize profits. Perhaps "racism" plays a role in that perception... but to make a statement of fact isn't racist, it's realist. Instead of artificially changing the playing field, these governments should be focusing on the root issues like education and qualifications. These programs slap a bandaid on a sucking chest wound and then pretend the wound will heal just because it's been covered.

discriminating programs such as this promote division among the population.

The reason why I hate programs or laws that discriminate against any race religion or gender is because there is no end game. When will this program become obsolete?

What is the percentage of white black Hispanic Asian etc needed until programs or laws like this go away.

That should be answered before any discriminating passages such as this are created.

I don't care if there are programs that help white males specifically they are just as discriminating as the one in the OP.

I remember being in a factory job where they had a quota to promote minorities and it adversely affected morale and productivity. It simply does not work and it is also discrimination.

That's known as `discrimination`, which isn't the same thing as `racism` or `sexism`, although those things can lead to discrimination.

Here's an amazing book for anyone that likes to read, maybe you'll even understand why programs like this exist:

www.jstor.org...

Discrimination based on sex is sexism.

Discrimination based on race is raciest.

Or did I miss something here?

You do realize that stating a white CEO is better simply because he is white is the text book definition of racism right? Ironic considering the agency the OP is outraged about.

That wasn't what he said. There are all kinds of factors that could lead to one race, gender, etc to being over represented in certain positions. None of it necessarily has to do with racism directly.

It is very difficult to become CEO of a F500 company. There are only 500 of them at any given time! It also takes a long time and almost extreme career management. Studies have been done to show which paths tend to lead to CxO. Typically, it is a top tier MBA, experience at certain prestigious companies, etc.

Most women do not want to make the family sacrifices required. Some minorities are already under represented even at schools which feed into the careers that produce CEOs, so it isn't surprising more minorites don't make it to that position.
