Microwave Fried Falukorv

Ingredients (2 pers.):
600 g Falukorv (NO, nothing but the real thing, will do)
1 chopped yellow onion
400 g of crushed tomatoes
2 teaspoons rosemary
2 cup grated cheese
(If desired – 1 pressed clove garlic)

1. Peel and chop the onion.
2. Mix the crushed tomatoes, onion and rosemary (and possibly pressed garlic) in an oval shape microwave safe pan.
3. Cut Falukorven into slices and place on top of the mold.
4. Cover pan and cook on full power in a microwave for about 8 minutes. **
5. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the hot dish and allow it to melt a little.
6. Serve with cooked pasta and a salad.

** This is in OUR microwave, so keep an eye on the dish, since the cooking time may vary from microwave to microwave.

Well I had to google what Falukorv was and double check that we have a scale in place of measuring cups, but I think I could manage this. Sounds tasty enough! Thanks for sharing this quick treat.

My pleasure!

Oh, and if you're thinking about the cheese, type of cheese and how much/little you want to sprinkle over the dish is up to you (personally, me an my better half like a tad bit more).

Thanks and enjoy!

I had to Google search falukorv also.
Looks like ring bologna to me.

it is similar to bologna but falukorv seems to have about half the fat (according to nutritional analysis)

I did a Google battle: falukorv vs ring bologna.

Here is one hit that I got:

Falukorv or ring bologna as it’s known outside Scandinavia, is said to have come from the German miners at the Falun copper mine during the 16th and 17th century. Back then, ox hide was used to make ropes and some of the leftover meat was salted, smoked and used to make sausages. Falukorv is said to have been based on Lyoner sausage from Germany. Lyoner sausage is basically European bologna.

I find that locally made ring bologna here in Pennsylvania isn't as fatty as other bologna. Some butcher shops use the hearts to make their ring bologna to avoid having so much fat in the end product. The end result is much more solid to bite into than, let's say, a hotdog.
