The French always feel unsafe, even when they are safe.
Their entire history is full of wars, uprisings, invasions, revolutions and uncertainty.

I work with a French guy, he moved to Quebec first, didn't like it because he thought the town he lived in had it out against him because he was from France. Now, he thinks the two Iranian guys we work with are plotting against him. He's always thinking someone is out to get him.

I feel real bad for France because of the horrific terrorist incidents that have taken place there. They are a sensitive people generally and I knew this would really upset them for a long time. They don't deserve it. They have been in the post colonial world one of the most willing friends to North African countries. It is very sad.

Hahahaha!

Your post is a great joke. Thanks for the laugh. It is a joke, right? Ohhh, ooops!

C'mon man. Read what you just wrote. So all the French are like this guy at work. I have spent long periods in France. They are a great people. They have a wonderful culture. Their literature is mind blowing (Voltaire, Rimbaud, Baudelaire, etc). Their food is amazing. Their women are the sexiest on earth. Shall I go on?

What's with this gross caricature of yours?

A very telling pole was released and it is telling on how the French feel about the about their terrorist situation.

93% of French believe that another terrorist attack is high, and 71% feel the security situation in France has gotten worse over the last 5 years.

www.breitbart.com...
The survey found that 93 per cent of French believe the threat of more terror attacks is high, and 71 per cent feel the security situation in France has got worse over the last five years.

59% of French people say they don't feel safe anywhere, and 69% feel the police are under staffed. 88% believe that France should deport foreigners that are sentenced to prison for serious offenses.

More broadly, 59 per cent of those polled said they did not feel safe anywhere, with almost one in four (24 per cent) opting to “strongly agree” with the statement.

Reflecting the insecurity respondents said they felt, 69 per cent think the police and gendarmerie are understaffed, and the survey found the French overwhelmingly have a positive view of law enforcement.

The vast majority of respondents (88 per cent) believe France should deport foreigners sentenced to prison for serious offences, and 84 per cent want the country to create more prison places.

I dont understand why they want foreigners kicked out of the country when all recent terrorist attacks have been commited by french citizens.

Half joking half not.

But yea, I agree they are wonderful people (except Parisians) and have wonderful culture.
I never said anything against that. What's your point?

Was there just a shooting at the airport in Paris?

The Fox news scroll just had something about the anti terrorism task force is investigating it now.

He attacked a cop and tried to take his weapon and the other 2 shot his ass.

Polls...

But if this numbers are right, then it seems that the french police- and surveillance state government is using 1984 as an instruction manual the right way...

Ruling by nothing else than fear, same as it ever was.

But btw. i wouldn´t feel secure anymore too, if the police looks like the military, and police and army are patrolling the streets, armed to the teeth. If somebody blows himself up near those armed to the teeth "protectors", all that militarizing wouldn´t help anyway. They are not there to fight the terrorism, they are there to make the people used to see them. And with the time the people think it has to be like this, because there is always a threat.

Look at that neverending state of emergency in France, that exactly always gets it "terror attack", short before it wants to be extended? The people of France slowly get used to live under a permanent state of emergency, they don´t protest or something, they just accepted and accept it.

But if that whole terror story since 9/11 aims to achive something different than the protectors want the people make to believe? What if they are the terror threat, masterminds all of those attacks(enough questionable things come up with every of those terror attacks). Because no terror, no need for "protectors". Without fear the ruling would become a hard piece of work.

I'm not sure I buy this.
The French aren't much different to anyone else.
Better fed, perhaps. A bit more arty, maybe, hotter women...quite possibly.

It would be interesting to see the demographics of those polled, I doubt you'd encounter much fear from those attending A Tolouse match or a Marseille one, for instance, or if you were to speak to the guys and girls working on the farms around Normandy and suchlike.

Given the most recent news, there will soon be more violent protests in France due to various reasons. EU is doomed, no chance of existance in 21st century. No oligarchs allowed to the 21st century, only men!

I heard that the RUSSIANS could be behind the most recent terror attack in France. An attempt to affect the elections there, like they did in the USA.

Well I want to spend a year in Europe when we retire in a couple years. To say Muslim violence does not effect my train of thought would be stupid.

We will go and everything will be fine. But does it enter my train of thought? Hell yes. I have seen video and want to visit the Markets of Morocco, Will we go there? idk.... Muslim terrorist. I am not an ex navy SEal...

So yeah they have the right to be scared. The religion of peace is everywhere.

The amount of hyperbole about terrorism in Europe is absolutely staggering. In 2015 the total terrorist related deaths was 151 across all of Western Europe. 130 of those were during the Paris attacks.

To put that In perspective, the police in the US shoot and kill about that many people every 6 weeks.

Overall the chances of being killed in a terrorist related incident in Europe is minuscule.
