All of my threads and comments focus on one central theme--Dharma (universal nature) of both the Outer and Inner Worlds.

SOLVE THE KOAN BELOW

See Thread 1 for perspective: Orthogonal Thinking is the Physics of the Scribe

In Latin, Meta means beyond, or after. While the western mind sees before and after as relative, the Eastern mind sees the thing you face as before you (facing the past). After, or beyond, is like turning another direction, or in Hebrew, Aharit (Future), leaving the past behind. Manu in Sanskrit is Mankind, or "To Think." Metacognition is beyond cognition, or knowing what you already know.

Anamnesis - Rediscovery of forgotten knowledge or talents as residual images left behind by past lives

In Plato's Meno, we have this quote:

Plato Complete Works - John M. Cooper, p. 880 (MENO)

"As the soul is immortal, has been born often and has seen all things here and in the underworld, there is nothing which it has not learned; so it is in no way surprising that it can recollect the things it knew before, both about virtue and other things. As the whole of nature is akin, and the soul has learned everything, nothing prevents a man, after recalling on thing only--process men call learning--discovering everything else for himself, if he is brave and does not tire of the search, for searching and learning are, as a whole, recollection.

Metamorphosis is akin to the Sanskrit word MATAM, or the adaptation of thinking that comes from seeking and finding. If you put the two ideas together, the physics of the mind, or our MetaCognition begin to reveal how the branching and folding of information takes place. To see the world from Orthogonal thinking, you must look at seemingly unrelated concepts to make connections.

ZEN KOAN Case 15 from Entangled Vines (One Peak is not White)

A monk asked Caoshan Benji, “Snow covers a thousand mountains. Why is one peak not white?”

Caoshan said, “You should recognize ‘distinction within distinction.’”

The monk asked, “What is ‘distinction within distinction’?”

Caoshan said, “Not falling into being the color of the other mountains.”

Attempt to solve the Koan. What is distinction within distinction? Why is one mountain not covered in snow? What metaphysical truth do we glean from Orthogonal thinking? See into this and solve the Koan. The token it carries is central to all my threads. Opening eyes to these hidden realities requires what you already know, yet latent within your sleeping mind.

Of the 10 Dimensions (Directions), name the one I leave out?

North, South, East, West, Past, Present, Future, Above and Below.

What is missing? The last place you would look.

Compassion is with Passion. This is true. What process is occurring to a mountain that is bringing the fire from within to the outer landscape? How does this relate to the distinction it has over other mountains that are asleep around it? Where does this token lead us in light of meditation and seeking the hidden direction of inner space? Will we find what we look for in outer space if we seek the farthest reaches of the universe?

I love this related quote from the Kore Kosmou:

"It is a rash work," said he, "to make man with such penetrating eyes, such a subtle tongue, such a delicate hearing that can hear even those things which concern him not, such a fine scent, and in. his hands a sense of touch capable of appropriating everything. O generating Spirit, thinkest thou it is well that he should be free from care--this future investigator of the fine mysteries of Nature? Wilt thou leave him exempt from suffering--he whose thought will search out the limits of the earth? Mankind will dig up the roots of plants, they will study the properties of natural juices, they will observe the nature of stones, they will dissect not only animals but themselves, desiring to know how they have been formed. They will stretch forth their daring hands over the sea, and, cutting down the timber of the wild forest, they will pass from shore to shore seeking one another. They will pursue the inmost secrets of Nature even into the heights, and will study the motions of heaven. Nor is this enough; when nothing yet remains to be known than the furthest boundary of the earth, they will seek even there the last extremities of night. If they apprehend no obstacle, if they live exempt from trouble, beyond reach of any fear or of any anxiety, even heaven itself will not arrest their audacity; they will seek to extend their power over the elements. Teach them, then, desire and hope, in such wise that they may know likewise the dread of accident and of difficulty, and the painful sting of expectation deceived. Let the curiosity of their souls have for balance, desire and fear, care and vain hope. Let their souls be a prey to mutual love, to aspirations and varied longings, now satisfied, now deceived, so that even the sweetness of success may be an allurement to draw them towards misfortune. Let the weight of fevers oppress them, and break in them all desire."

Examining your 'central theme', would you care to share where, exactly, and what, exactly, is the difference between an "Outer World" and an "Inner World"?
The inside of your eyelids?

Of the 10 Dimensions (Directions), name the one I leave out?

North, South, East, West, Past, Present, Future, Above and Below.

The only 'direction' (not dimensions) that is actually not an appearance of duality, that you missed is;
Here!
Where are you?
Here!
Where am I?
Here!
Where is anyone, anywhere in the Universe?
Here!
When?
Now!

The Zen you speak of is not the Hidden Zen beyond (Meta). The emptiness (field of unlimited potential) is a hint, not the infinity of existence. It is, though, the reason a domesticated Buffalo would become the Bodhisattva.

The buffalo’s head sprouts horns
As he emerges from the weeds (relatives),
In a dream, he tries to speak
Of the valley of the timeless spring.
Although he has bathed in the fragrant waters,
I hit, saying, “Not Good Enough!
How will you impart strength to others?”

In Hebrew, the word TRUTH is Aleph (Strong) Mem (Water) Tav (Plowman's Mark).

The Hebrew word Death is Mem Tav, or missing the Strength.

In James 1, true religion is outlined as this:

27 Pure, unstained religion, according to God our Father, is to take care of orphans and widows when they suffer and to remain uncorrupted by this world.

What is missing in both the Widow and the Orphan? A Father (Aleph). Mem is the universal waters of Life (Mother). Tav is the Son.

Zen and Realization of the Field of existence is only half. LIFE comes from BodhiDharma traveling West (Two made one). Unless both Compassion and Enlightenment meet, only half is learned.

John 14

Jesus answered, "I am the WAY [EAST] and the TRUTH [WEST] and the LIFE [two made one]. No one comes to the Father [Aleph Bet / DNA] except through me [WORD / sWORD].

The flaming sword is death. Rebirth is the path of return. Bodhisattva is the concept. Compassion is Love for others. The other half of Zen is this.

MUNI is the Sage and Duty as defined. This is the simple answer. Com is with. Cate means to bring food, or to bring from within out.

ComMUNIcate.

Transmission is not with words, but with deeds. Compassion is the distraction of the heart required for liberation. The gift of Heaven is not liberation, but virtue. Duplicity cannot be the desire of giving and compassion. It must be distinct from the desire. Being one requires Echad and not Yachid. Either all beings are liberated, or none are liberated.

LUXOR "As to deserving, know that the gift of heaven is free; this gift of Knowledge is so great that no effort whatever could hope to 'deserve' it."

Brew a good cup, then ask questions. It's amazing to liberate the thing you already know. It only hurts because you already resonate with it, yet can't figure out why.

Resolve.

The peak without snow is like the middle of a compass that resolves matters in every directions. The Peak is above what is below but below what is above. It is neither fallen or ascended. The peak remains as it is, in the middle of those, due to the drive of resolve in settling a course of action for the past, present and future, for the below and the above. Snow covering all the rest of the peaks with only one being left exposed is like an outlaw. Conforming to nothing. The snow on the other peaks seemingly represents conformity at first look, copied and pasted one after the other stretching for miles all around, yet under each snow peak unique and precious treasures lay within. The snowless peak is a resolver and as it resolves it continually blankets the other peaks with snow like white patience so the unique treasures in each are preserved. This is the memory and I am grateful for that memory.

As it is now, as depicted in the opening post of this thread, it is beautiful.
Removing the snow from the other peaks would reveal the treasures and that too is beautiful.
Snow on that one snowless peak would give patience to resolve and that is also beautiful.

Resolve is of God and is God. And God is good and beautiful.

AMEN - A hu MEN - Human -Resolves. It's what we do and have always done.

made me think of something i read about the learning process

unconscious incompetence he doesnt know that he doesnt know
conscious incompetence he knows that he doesnt know they say this is where u accelerate in learning
conscious competence u know what u know and applying the knowledge
unconscious competence u can do things without thinking about it

u dont advance when u think u know it all a.k.a the peak then u find something u dont know then u come back down? XD

Within.

Still working on Koan. Distinction within distinction reminds me of the Law of One; more specifically, the idea that we are fragments of the Infinite Creator.

Jesus answered, "I am the WAY [EAST] and the TRUTH [WEST] and the LIFE [two made one]. No one comes to the Father [Aleph Bet / DNA] except through me [WORD / sWORD].

What is actual is the way the truth and the life - what is here now. No words are needed for what there is to BE what there is. Remove all words and it will be easy to see and hear. Jesus was said to teach the blind to see and the deaf to hear. Even when words appear they are found to be just appearing. Seeing and hearing what IS will bring 'you' to the father.
What is all seeing and all knowing and always present?

The flaming sword is death.

But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." Exodus 33:20
The individual - the illusory separate one - only appears to live in 'what is not happening' - in stories of past or of future.
If what actually IS is seen and heard then there is no individual appearing - there is just what there IS appearing.

Words make believe what isn't. The past isn't, the future isn't - this that is IS but it can not be grasped or denied. This that IS is unimaginable and unavoidable but is missed because words can never tell any stories about it.
It is a little like the page in a book is not noticed because of the words appearing.

A true Koan has no answer - when the mind tries to solve a question which has no answer it stops and there is just nothing. That nothing is what everyone is looking for - no conflict, peace.
Peace (no conflict) is what lies beneath the words and concepts which conflict.
Here is a great video which shows the result of dropping all concepts.

The truth is hidden in plain sight - in seeing.
Everything appears within the seeing of it.
There is not a thing seeing every thing - there are no things - there is simply what is appearing.

If you seek the father then seek what is seeing!
