I (as most people) can understand where you're coming from. I'm not sure if people on here remember or read my post a few months back (last yr
already) when I woke up to find my older German Sheppard gone. He passed in his sleep which honestly is for me the perfect way to go from my stand
point, he was in some pain in the days leading up to it and the vets appointment was the day he woke up it was a horrible moment but I'm glad the
decision was taken from me even though I was preparing for that decision if the vet said he was in alot of pain, he was fourteen years old. I'm not
left with his sister, Midnight who will be fifteen this year (again people say WOW when they hear that apparently it's really old for a German
Sheppard lol including some vets) she is slow up the stairs but other than that she barrels about like he's ten, we recently got a pair of huskies
(one was a rescue that was found and is a bit of a handful but doing great) and we were given another a few months back when an elderly lady couldn't
look after him and since those two new dogs have come around Midnight (older dog) runs after the puppy and chases him in the garden like she is young
again.
Speaking to the vet, I admitted to having late nights not knowing when the time would come and the vet gave me some advice, she said "In the event
that Midnight doesn't get an illness or develops cancer she will tell you when it's time. The moment she doesn't want to go for a walk, she doesn't
eat or eats very little and just wants to be left alone, it's her way of saying: C'mon Dan (that's me) it's time to let me go" and I'm sticking to
that. Midnight still loves her walks and like I said barrels after the puppies so I'm hoping she is really doing good and it's not just me thinking
that but yh I think if the vet is right Midnight will tell me, so my advice (rather drawn out advice lol): is as long as your cat isn't showing signs
of being in pain and eating well then be happy with her and spend some extra time and give her some extra treats.
(On a side note: If I get the chance before she goes I'm gonna spoil her with all the foods that I know she wants but can't have from Malteasers to
Kebab (she loves the smell and I'll admit has had a piece or two in her life) and Ice cream etc. so whatever food your cat might like but never had or
only had a little, go for it it'll help afterwards.
