This is not a complex issue

The barbaric conservative republicans just don’t care about human beings. All they care for is the wealth of the wealthy

This problem can be solved so easily

SINGLE PAYER!

It’s the conservative GOP who won't allow the simplest and best solution...SINGLE PAYER

Thousands will die because of them and they don't give a dam

And the greedy selfish electorate of this country who have good insurance don't give a dam about their poorer fellow American.

Also, all those lower middle class whites who voted for Trump in those swing states will be very very sorry

All the ones who have been mandated to pay a fine because they can't afford the unaffordable care act? Yeah..I'm sure..

How about we give free markets a chance?

Single payer can only be accomplished if you take away the individual's right to choose his/her healthcare.

You want to remove freedoms.

Singe payer is just a universal Medicaid for all American citizens
Has nothing to do with choice

ITS FREE to the individual

A lot of people struggle with bills. It's part of living a responsible adult life.

Just because you don't like having to worry about how to pay for this or that doesn't mean you get to vote your fingers into your neighbors' pocket because you think he might have more and you resent that.

If you have income and/or assets, it would be smart of you to get at least catastrophic health insurance. At age 28, you're not likely to contract a serious disease, injuries happen without warning. (Sports, Drunk Drivers, etc.)

BWAAHHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!

FREE?! FREE?!!

Excuse me while I wipe the tears off my face.

You should take a good long look at the tax rates in those countries who have "free" health care. Don't forget to add in the VATs while you are looking because the health care isn't "free." You're just nickel and dimed to death for it instead of being billed up front.

Single payer would cause delays and bring down my quality of care

Hm, I don't care, how's that?

I'd rather see other people not be killed or bankrupted.

Catastrophic with an HSA was a smart policy for otherwise healthy individuals, even families, prior to Obamacare.

It's all about being able to afford healthcare for yourself and your family. I work and have for decades as has my wife. We've paid more money into health insurance plans than most people, I would guess.

So I'm not putting my fingers in anyone's pocket. But when you start making it harder for me and my family to afford healthcare then there's a problem.

It's the insurance industry that's broken and big pharma, they jack up the prices.

It's really funny how many people on this thread are crying because they think we're trying to take money out of their pockets. I'm sorry I don't make a million dollars a year yet and I can't afford healthcare without insurance. Especially dealing with long hospital stays and Cancer.

The extreme right wing doesn't support the American Healthcare Act because it financially helps people obtain or afford coverage. Medicaid, or via Subsidies/APTC.

So you're against people being poorer than you buying into your pool? Just buy the best possible option you can afford, and then you're guarantied to be the person you're complaining about in smaller pools. And then you can get your 4 million dollar cancer treatment for only 5 years of $1,000 a month or whatever. Other people are trying to get 'annual visits' with this insurance, that's what you're against.

The American pool system is only legal because the idea of 'shopping' for subsidies. It's moronic because the first split from a single pool makes both existing pools more expensive and so on and so on. So if you're against a single national pool, that's just a whatever argument at that point. Canada maintains that scoreboard.

But truth be told, your statement was hard to read. Do you mean you're both against small pools AND a national pool? What does that leave?

You folks just don’t get it

Its vital that in a modern society where the health care market is allowed to be
“ free” that costs are astronomical.

The average person cant afford health insurance its just too expensive outside an employers insurance and even now that's no longer free...that's the free market

Why do they allow the medical industry to do this?

That’s the “ free market” in action

So millions of Americans die earlier than they would normally have

Millions get sick where if they had affordable health care that would have been avoided

All civilized and even some uncivilized countries in the world have universal health care for their population

Old time conservative DOGMA of “free markets” are adhered too out of ignorance, or nonsense about “socialism”, and just old time selfishness and hatred for the poor

Its a shame and a national disgrace

Obama forces everyone to buy insurance (or they steal your tax return) and the amount of people with insurance goes up

Trump gets rid of the mandatory insurance clause so all the people who didn't want insurance in the first place drop it and the amount of people with insurance goes down.

Liberals claim the sky is falling because their horrible system is no longer stealing money from the poor-middle class.

It's not free for the taxpayers who pay for it as well as subsiding it for the poor.

The care for the families of those who can provide for themselves should not be limited by those who can't provide for themselves.

Their healthcare is their problem, not mine.

Sorry, not sorry, you don't get it. Single payer would increase wait times, provide lower quality care than me and mine currently receive, and limit healthcare related profits decreasing innovation. I am unwilling to sacrifice the care of me and mine for anyone else.

The market ceased to be "free" the minute the government become a competitor in it via Medicare and Medicaid and Tricare. Government services do not and cannot ever "compete" like private businesses do because they aren't constrained by the rule of supply and demand and the hard restraint of having to maintain a bottom line.

Not to mention that government services can write their own rules of operation via law in effect being their own lobbyist/lawmaker all in one.

It is a disruptive distortion in the market that will forever skew it out of true.

Another report says about 25 million more jobs on the way so they can get it at work and not be taxed for it. Of course that would require them to WORK.

Most jobs the working poor get will simply keep them at less than 40 hours so they don't have to provide insurance. I know plenty of people who work 2 or even three jobs with no insurance. They can (and often do) work 40+ hours a week and pray they don't get sick or injured.
