If a movie is good enough to be remade, it doesn't need to be remade.

I'm ready to take a ton of heat on this one.

Let's have James Cameron remake

2001 a space odyssey

There are so many great and terrible things about that film.

The beginning is just straight up cheese.

I love the overall movie but it could be re-storyborded and done better.

I don't know.. I really like the older stuff.

A part of me says something like the original Metropolis with the "latest tech." But, a big part of it is the amazing achievement of the original (at least IMO.)

What I WOULD like, if we are looking for essentially ready made content, is quite a few book series that I think would make pretty fun movies. Wheel of Time, Belgariad, Mistborn, etc. I'm not under the illusion of them being perfect adaptations or any of that nonsense, but if they are entertaining, I'd dig it.

I think it's time to actually put this CGI to good use.

The upcoming live action Ghost in the Shell looks awesome(really high hopes on this one).

So given that CGI technology can actually, i believe justly, bring these classic anime films to life. I'd like to see them do a live action Akira.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Mummy and what they do with the so called Monster-verse.

As far as what I'd like to see remade? Well, if you go back to the 80's there were a lot of horrible movies that came from great books and/or source material. Dune is one that comes to mind. You also have several Stephen King books that didn't translate to film (back then) like Firestarter and The Dead Zone.

Someone nailed it earlier though...a truly great movie doesn't need to be remade. I have to wonder about this whole age of remakes and reboots. On one hand it's fun seeing a new and updated version of an old classic but more importantly it reinforces the downside of it and that is this: Isn't there any new ideas in Hollywood these days?

Don't you go messing with Ice Pirates.

That movie was rad. Stop updating my childhood!

Must of what makes a movie good is also the cinematography or special effects of the time. I can see why some real classics are ruined by remakes.

I watch videodrome the other day(love that film). I actually thought about how it would look/feel if it were remade.

Right off the bat, I don't even think the subject matter(come one, cable television, pirated signals) is even relevant or frankly comprehensible to most people today.

Plus that gritty, dark feel of it would just be lost with that overly polished newness that most films have.

Best to leave most of this stuff alone. Though as I said some live action anime titles might be cool(Akira, or Vampire hunter D the first film). However those, the animes, I'd like to see done shot for shot mostly just live action. Like I said, might as well put this CGI to good use other than streaming out #ty michael bay dance parties.

Crews is awesome. Highlight character in Brooklyn nine nine. He was in My Wife and Kids and stole it

I'd love to see a reboot of Highlander. The whole storyline has huge potential and the characters are great.

Colin Farrell if he isn't too old already. Directed by the Cohen Brothers lol. They'd crank up the darkness and realism. Neeson as Ramirez? Tom Hardy for Kurgan?

Bonny Heather would be hard to replace though. "Oh Conor, you're all muck and muscle!" "Heather, please!"

I love that film. Queen soundtrack? No. Keep 'Who Wants to Live Forever' and bring a brand new soundtrack.

I'm not a huge fan of all of the remakes mostly because it seems like a lazy money grab for Hollywood, and discourages creativity and originality. That said, I would like to see a Jaws remake. I don't have a good reason why other than it would be interesting to see how it turns out
