The elections department is just as guilty for not verifying that she was a citizen and her name still being on the voting roll! So this women gets 8 years and she gets deported! Why don't they just deport her instead of putting her in jail? So what happens if someone who can't read English that well accidently checks the wrong box? They automatically get sent to jail? Shouldn't the elections department be verifying and than calling that person and asking "maam, we're reviewing your voters application and want to verify if you are legally a citizen of the United States?"

I know my Italian grandmother who was an immigrants to the U.S. couldn't read nor barely understand English. My mother and her siblings would always have to clarify what someone said in English, or help her complete and understand legal forms.

Had she pulled such a stunt in North Korea ... and voted for 'the other guy' ... she'd have been eaten by dogs by now.

This is why nobody goes to North Korea to vote.

People vote in North Korea?

8 years seems a bit much for voter fraud (single person fraud).

More importantly, why pay to keep someone in prison for 8 years (to reform them from that sort of behavior) and then immediately ship them out of the country after they are out? That makes no sense at all.

As a Trump supporter I agree wholeheartedly! Lock her up until the wall is finished then deport her.

Make her build the wall!

Seems to be a favorite deflection from facts...deny ignorance. Prove it was just one.

Waiting....

8 years does not seem long enough.

The surcomstances influence the decisions...eg..eas there fraud in filling out voter registration? That's 3 felonies right there...

Bottom line...non citizens voting in my elections. Canceling my vote.

Go to jail. Get deported. I do not care.

The law was broken. Pay the piper.

I think 10 years for each offence and then deported would be fair.
