omg, i fell asleep just woke up and this got a little bit out of hand... How am i supposed to know what side a pentagram is supposed to?

And no i did never associated this picture with evil or whatever. What reason do i have to associat this with wiccan and wiccan with evil?

I simply took this picture because it was late in the night, there never usually comes anyone this late, and they had red lights. It was not scary nor evil to me, and above all im NOT thinking about points here, that kind of replys should really be left behind.

With "disturbing" i simply mean that every light i cam across was off, but only there was a red light with what looked to me as if it was a pentagram and thus is not, alright?

Im going to work now, and when i got there ill hope to answer some more 'misunderstandings"
luckily their not all replys are misunderstandigs, like pisky's, and some more, thanks for that.

So if you think im doing this for points, please BEG a mod to remove this thread allright?

People identify themselves and communicate with symbols. It's not possible to just 'see' what this symbol represents just from the picture, therefore it's not a very effective symbol, is it? Is it a star of Bethlehem? Is it a pentagram without a circle? Does the person simply like stars? As a Christian I wear a cross so people know where I'm coming from and it often starts conversation. This is not necessary to do so to believe in God, nor does the cross hold 'special properties'. Those of different alignment I know wear their symbols too. It's easier when you can see where someone is coming from. Some of which will state they've translated 'special properties' into their symbols. To these though, I would caution not playing with. Irregardless, Jesus' teaching states we are to love your neighbor, so where's the problem? If you fear because you're subject to influences, I think it's time to talk to God. Also, get to know your neighbors. My hood is so paranoid, they pop out to go to work and then back into their houses when they get home. Paranoia begets paranoia. Why are they paranoid? Are they hiding something? And so forth. It's hard to break the mold. Old school growing up, my family knew all the neighbors.

Qoute: Ignorance or Christian zealots (not all Christians are that way though, especially here....There a few here that are really educated with the facts)

LadyV, I am sorry if I misread that, it just looks like you said that as a rule Christians are ignorant. Though there might be a very small few here that are actually educated. That would be like saying "Jews are all zeolots and ignorant but I have met a handful who aren't". Or "Wiccans are usually nuts, though I have met a couple that are normal".

I could have totally misconstrued what you meant though. As far as the idiot with the Moltov cocktail? I won't even dignify that with a response. Looks like a loser kid trying to stir up trouble. I hope anyone who is violent against ANY group goes straight to jail without a get out of jail free card. I guess in my head there just wasn't a need to say it. I should have.

We seem to read similar threads and it just seems like you don't like Christians much as a group. Just an observation and again, I may be completely off base

Touche'. I think you have picked up on an implication in her statement, but from I know of LadyV, I don't think it was on purpose. Rather than speak for someone else though, perhaps it's best I keep my mouth shut and my eyes open. *watches both peeps with interest*

OMG!!! A star
Seriously, people, why get so riled up over such a little thing? I figure that either the people thought it'd be a cool decoration, or it's a religious symbol. And if it's the latter, who cares? Just because someone's views are slightly different from everyone elses, why should they be persecuted? I mean, come on, I'm a practicing catholic, and two of my closest friends are pagan. We have come to an agreement: I don't burn them as witches or try to convert them, and they don't try to hex me or crucify me.

I don't get it either, im Wiccan too... I just find it slightly finny as to why it's "automatically" assumed that a star related to Wiccan is evil...
In aswer to her "WHY" I replied with

Ignorance or Christian zealots

I then added to show that not all Chrsitians are "zealots"

(not all Christians are that way though,

and I then added my opinion of many I have met here at ATS

especially here

Then I added that there are a few here that are educated on Wiccan ways...

There are a few here that are really educated with the facts)

Does that clear it up enough for everyone? If not we'll have to discuss it later as I have band practice tonight.

Don't worry, skippy will save us..

The xenophobia and ignorance in the post where it was suggested that they take action against someone who displays a pentagram is riddiculous. A pentagram is a gnostic symbol of wisdom and enlightenment, and it is also a Wiccan symbol, representing nature in alignment (correct me if I'm wrong LadyV
) It seems like a respect of nature, and a quest for enlightenment are compatable with christian values... so, before making assumptions that a pentagram is an evil symbol, check your facts. I'm a christian, and I think a pentagram is a good representation of my goals: enlightenment, and harmony. Oh, and yeah, if it was upside down, it would be considered a satanic symbol... but, that person still has the right to show that symbol... STRONGLY wish they wouldnt, if it was upside down, but they do have that right. And comments that encouraged the destruction of someone's property for something like that should never be tolerated.

Spirit: This point is a representation of the mind and spirit having control over the physical as well as the spirit's strength to overcome earthly dilemmas, quests, problems and/or situations. For most it is a representation of the "soul" or "self". And for many it can also be representation of deity.

Earth: Grounding, centering, strength and security ... this elemental point is a representation of the physical. It reminds us of our mortality and that we are here at this time to experience life as finite beings. The earth element is also often associated with the winter months and with midnight.

Air: Inspiration, intellect, insight, cleansing, purification, and new beginnings ... this elemental point is a representation of freshness of thoughts and clarity of visions. It represents fresh beginning and newness. The air element is also often associated with the months of spring and with the dawn.

Fire: Passion, healing, protection, creativity, and vitality ... this elemental point is a representation of passion, not just sexual passion but the spark of passion within all things. It also represents transformations and creativity and is the element behind healing works. The fire element is also often associated with the months of summer and with midday.

Water: Emotions, intuition, and cleansing ... this elemental point is a representation of emotions and feelings, of intuition and the psyche. It is also the element of cleansing and purification. The water element is also often associated with the months of autumn and with twilight.

The Surrounding Circle: This is the one telling thing that differentiates a pentacle from a pentagram. The pagan symbol of a star alone is a pentacle, but if the star has a surrounding circle, then it is a pentagram. The circle surrounding a pentacle adds the representation of infinity and rebirth.

Would you agree that the pentagram is not a Christian symbol?

To me it looks like the 'Star of David' and it represents no threat to me spiritually, mentally, physically.

Obviously, somebody wanted to keep it up for the pleasure of it. I wear the 'Star of David', as my family is of Jewish descent, but also of the Christian background. (luke 24:18).

We respect other people in how they worship; and we don't criticise others.

As far as 'wiccans' go-they remind me of how the 'red indians' view the Earth.

Then again, the Earth is a living organism-the reason we must care for her.

I respect the indians and the wiccans belief in that they respect life and that isn't heard of much these days.

I won't practice witchcraft, but I understand thier connection with nature. To have a spiritual bond with the Earth is wonderful. Besides, we are all universally connected to one another and all the heavens.

a pentegram is getting everyone upset?
my god i thought people were abit more open minded on here than this.....
even if it was upside down, the people could be satanists who cares?
do they throw moltov cocktails through crucifics windows?

It's not even a pentagram. I'm a Christian, and even I know..doesn't a pentagram have a circle around it? One without a circle is a pentacle?

LadyV,
I would agree that your post seemed to suggest that Christians on the whole are ignorant. By saying "There are a few..." it suggests that you're saying "Yeah, I guess there actually ARE some Christians who are educated"... Not to beat a dead horse or anything..
