Some Asgardia stuff. I'm in the middle of merging two documents for the admin.

What are you coding? Is it a planetarium? I've coded a planetarium in the past. I made it look Doctor Who-like. Hehe I'm actually kind of proud of it.

Hi everybody!! *waving*

I've been sitting blankly staring at the monitor trying to find a place to jump in, lol.
(been enjoying reading everything)

So I'm just saying "hi".
Awesome to see so many members here at the same time.
Almost...magical.

OMG Jess, that bird with no worm cracked me up! Ahahaha! The other pic was funny too! When you guys were talking about the word facetious I knew what it meant. I remember though, the first time my Sister came out with the word discombobulated. I cracked up and thought she made the word up. I couldn't believe it was actually a word!

Jacy, I know what you mean, It hurts my heart too seeing people I care about hurting in any way either! We can only be there for them in whichever we can to help lighten their spirits and try to bring comfort. Don't mind all the rain Hun, it will make the flowers bloom and trees start to bud. The plants will be happy. I'll often misspell a word and it comes out funny so I'll use it once in a while to be cute. LOL OH I LOVE your magic pic!!!!!!!

Shep,

For example, if I have an array of fruit:
['apple', 'orange']
And I .push('banana'), what I'm getting is:
['banana', 'banana', 'banana']

You have minions!!!!!

Hunter, you came back from the dead? How was it on the other side?

Zos,Happy Thursday and thank you for sharing the artwork! I saw your thread about it and commented. Wishing you unconditional love my friend! Even the smallest of things can make a huge difference in someone's life. I have often said that it is the small things that matter most.

Ok, this is getting long. I'll make another post to respond to the rest that I missed.

Thanks Night for checking out the thread! I haven't much (yet) to contribute to the conspiracy/ufo/cryptology/paranormal side of ATS, but love sharing the interesting things I find on my day-to-day adventures.

Aww, thank you so much!

I actually searched for a long time to find something to post in here.

When I was the hostess of The Shed and I was absent (in real life), Night Star took over and kept this place alive.
Lately she has been gone a lot, and I felt a certain responsibility (to her and others) to keep us recent and relevant.

But I'm not Night Star. I'm not as good at maintaining the loving spirit and I have no idea where she finds all those uplifting lovely pics and quotes.
So I tried search after search, until I landed on "I believe in magic"...and I thought, "Well I do!"

So I posted it and nobody was home, and I hoped that it was ok standing alone without any comments of explanation...basically, I doubted my choice.
Sometimes it IS magical in here though...and that's most of why I believe.
So I eventually decided that it was relevant, lol.

*hugs*
jacy

Nothing anywhere near as exciting as that. Stuff for work - I'm working on a screen in a subsystem of ours. You and add, edit, or delete various reference numbers to the entities in the system - that's the functionality I'm working on right now. SUPER exciting I know...

One more quick message to all before I get out and enjoy the day (my son is currently bustling around the house finding materials to create presents for me.. lol, so cute! He puts stuff in boxes and tapes them up.. finds bags, easter eggs, etc and says "here's your PWESENT!")

So we are about to go walking outside on this perfect spring day.

I just had to say to each of you that this Shed is truly a beautiful place and has effects in the real world as well. I read these comments and smile and am inspired to go out and share the love
so thank you!

See you all soon!

Thank you, Shep.

With your own most recent installment, I was awed as usual by your wonderful weaving of words.

The only constructive criticism I dare offer is to try and reduce your use of the ellipsis. I like it as well and it surely has its place, if not over-used. But also, bear in mind that technically (and I'm being awfully picky), there should always be a space between an ellipsis and the following word.

When I was editing my last book before it went to a professional editor who would be much tougher than me, I removed a few hundred ellipses, because I had vastly over-used them. This meant needing to re-evaluate what I wrote and decide if I could do it another way. In 90% of cases, as I could do so, I did -- quite often by using semi-colons or spaced hyphenation. I feel this helped the story in the long run. But aside from those technical points, I wouldn't change a thing.

Good advice, thank you! I have actually removed a fair number of them from my writing since I started posting it in the Shed.

With the ellipsis I'm usually trying to indicate some sort of pause or hesitation on the speaker's part. How do you usually express that, Mike?

If my characters pause I just put 3 dots. LOL The seasoned writers must cringe when I write, but I have received compliments from so many people for so many years with my writing, so I don't know. I just want to tell a story.

That was beautiful, zosimov.
Your writing in general is quite beautiful. Sometimes I read along in here, and there are conversations going on between members that are too wonderful to interrupt.
Sometimes I notice how beautifully some of you write...it's almost musical...and I think how wonderful it is that I get to know you all.
Sometimes I feel like a bull in a China Shop in here. Like a Troll amongst the pixies, lol.

Shep...Your descriptions of your characters is ridiculous. I see them clearly in my head, hear their accents and picture the scenery. It's annoying that you can do that so well. (Yes I'm being facetious.)

Night Star...You're too kind, knock it off...*pulls pointy ear* but thank you!

JustMike...Will I lose my 'writer' status if I admit that I had to google "ellipsis"?

Anyone I missed...I'm sorry! I have too many tabs open! Too many fingers in too many pies!! I love you!!

"That's a good question, Shep."

Elbows resting on the table, Mike clasped his hands under his chin and smiled, "Sometimes, you can bring in a gesture, or even a facial expression. And other times?"

He released a sigh. "Other times it's just a matter of how you lay out the words on the page." Then he shrugged and added, "But yes... there are times when you need them. As long as we don't use the ellipsis too often, most readers won't even notice. It won't impact them any more than a full stop does. But if it does?"

Another shrug. "Well, then we need to do something about it."

Okay?
