Compassion doesn't make us weak, it is one of the strongest emotions/actions that can be extended, however many individuals see it as a weakness, and take advantage of it.

I agree, when those taking advantage intentionally bring pain and suffering to others out of their selfishness? All of those that they have brought pain and suffering against; have empathy or direct understanding in each other... that goes without any saying. These sufferings that others bring are selfish and attachment based some live by swinging banners of ideology or labels around and in such a manner they still use and twist them to their individual purpose as a ration and excuse for doing so. Because no one is their label the idea or concept they carry.

Not even strict vegans or vegitarians... why? Because on inhalation and exhalation? Still consuming particulate of an animal... ignorance of such a thing? Bliss, but once known? That ignorance is no longer bliss... so in defense one goes into self protective mode. So they they can force the reality out of their minds.

Forcing reality out of one's mind; does not need to occur... it is a coping mechanism to guard a self that does not really inherently exist; it has arisen and will rise in the dependence on which it arises... but good news, that that arises passes on it's own... so that moment of defense can be easily negated. But not in delsusion, or self chosen ignorance... it arose and it will pass and forgotten; without any of that attachment that persists to maintain a state of relative stasis that gives rise to no regard to any point of view other than it's own in it's own script of habitual that it has attached too.

The present moment is brand new when the script is torn up, the new that protects all that is not really them. The them they take themselves for? Old dead, past, gone, a bubble in a stream, a ghost, a phantom, a mirage not reality... sure it was reality at the time it occured. But gone, done, over... dragging such only limits every single thing yet to arise. Sow a thought, grow intent, water an action, reap the effect of the intent in doing so.

Truth in body, speech, and mind. The speech will hide the reality of the mind of what their body is attached too. Such a thing can only occur for so long, of course what happens when it goes on too long? One then starts lieing to themself... when that occurs? They cannot be shown otherwise... it has become too ingrained, too far gone, to concider any other view than what one has convienced themselves of, in that irrationality of trying to make it rational... at some point they knew it was not the proper thing to do; but eventually? The lie they were living, over takes them and they believe it themselves.

Way more points of view, than ONE... reality is reality, it is not a person, not a place and not a thing...

It just is.

this energy that we all share, your breath, your will, your spirit, how do you convey it? do you not translate it into this body that we all share?

have you ever considered that physical reality might be the way that God reveals spiritual truths? what if physical reality are his words?

compassion (altruism) comes from recognizing that we're one - the closer you get to spiritual truth, the more you'll recognize that.

mirror neurons aren't there to lie to us - mirror neurons are there to conceive of how we are.

as it is beneficial to recognize when we are hurting, compassion must be a strength.

that might be difficult for some to understand: the point about God and spiritual truth is that it is by design that physical reality follows spiritual functions (like our words to one another, their very purpose is to convey our spiritual truth, hence our mirror neurons revealing our spiritual connection to one another.)

Energy can be stored like in a battery... the things one carries in storage of that container is typically not their energy when given to things or systems of futility; such a thing is called memory. The present never happens in the past. It is discharged and in an effort not to die or have relevance; no matter how futile or useless? Someone is storing it somewhere it is waiting to be revived, as a subject but instead of being a subject of study? Others become subject or slave to it; feeding it let it go, if it isn't practical... it is a waste of time and energy, if it doesn't really benefit everyone equally? It is a bias, a duality, a polarity... that only then attracts the opposite to continue to feed on it and hold it there.

Detaching is saying; sorry, I am not going to be cause for that energy any longer... it discharges and leaves nothing to hold onto or grasp at.

Do you not think animals are saddened when their offspring are killed? Our remaining dog went on a downer for a few days when we had to euthanase our other dog

Did your other dog see the other dog killed? Was it loneliness and not compassion?

Compassion is directly linked to humanities ability to empathizes.

It's one of the traits/constructs that set us apart from the other animals.

Compassion may be interpreted as weakness but its also one of our great strengths.

I would say that trust is far greater a weakness than compassion, comparatively speaking of course.

I'm sure many of the spiritually-attuned readers ....

Just to make sure everyone is aware of this: spiritualism = spiritism, it's not spirituality. And using your imagination to philosophize and fantasize in a sophisticated or elaborate manner* about a variety of subjects including metaphysics, is still using your imagination and also not very spiritual per se. *: possibly containing very persuasive arguments or reasonings to oneself

True Spirituality—How Can You Find It?
Do You Appreciate Our Spiritual Heritage?
Spiritism: Reasoning

Spiritism

Definition: Belief that a spirit part of humans survives death of the physical body and can communicate with the living, usually through a person who serves as a medium. Some people believe that every material object and all natural phenomena have indwelling spirits. Sorcery is the use of power that is acknowledged to be from evil spirits. All forms of spiritism are strongly condemned in the Bible.
...

The bolded one is quite popular. Sometimes "spirits" is swapped with "energy", unique to the object or natural phenomena, such as humans, animals, plants, rocks, sculpted images, statues and idols such as crosses, 5-pointed star, 6-pointed star, Trinity symbol the Triquetra as seen for example in the TV-show "Charmed" on the book cover (magic is often asocciated with this philosophy), talismans, entire planets like the earth, the entire universe or nature itself; the concept that I bolded doesn't change much other than swapping "spirits" with "energy".

Philosophizing about magic also isn't very spiritual:
The Truth About Magic, Sorcery, and Witchcraft

Philosophizing in general isn't being spiritual per se, but I think I already mentioned that, just wanted to rephrase that and stress that the exact topic doesn't matter. Just see the article how to find true sprituality. Oh in case you missed it, believing in Myth 1: The Soul Is Immortal, is common within most forms of spiritism and connects to the belief in ghosts and thus also any possible communication with these ghosts or spirits or "souls of the departed" (to quote some Catholic document that likes to conflate the word "souls" with "spirits").
It also connects to this theological philosophy (theosophy) cause One Myth Leads to Another:

Just so my post doesn't end up being too off-topic, becoming "tenderly compassionate" would be developing true spirituality:
Become “Tenderly Compassionate”

NEVER before have so many of our fellow humans been in such dire need of compassionate help as they face famine, sickness, poverty, crime, civil strife, and natural disasters. Compassion denotes a sympathetic awareness of another’s suffering or adversity combined with a desire to alleviate it. Like the warm rays of the bright sun, compassion can soothe a distressed soul, lessen pain, and lift the spirits of an afflicted person.

We can show compassion by our actions and our words—caring for others and being there when they need us. It is good not to limit compassion to family, friends, and acquaintances. We can widen out to include people whom we do not even know. “If you love those loving you, what reward do you have?” asked Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount. This compassionate man also said: “All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must likewise do to them.”—Matthew 5:46, 47; 7:12.

You can read these words—known as the Golden Rule—in the Holy Scriptures. Many agree that the Bible is the ultimate guide to showing compassion. The Scriptures repeatedly express our obligation to help those who, for whatever reason, cannot help themselves. The Bible presents its Author and our Creator, Jehovah God, as the one who is preeminently compassionate.

Just note that the word "spirits" in the article is not used with the same meaning as earlier in this comment, there are multiple definitions for that word that are explained in my thread on ATS about "One myth leads to another". I hope it's not confusing.

In the sense that a cunning and cruel individual can easily manipulate compassionate people, yes, it can be a weakness to be taken advantage of.

Not true... compassion and empathy is not a weak spot at all there is no key under a welcome mat... bend over to check and you'll get a boot in the ass. Knock on the door if you have any business being there.

Compassion says yup we know life is suffering; and empathy says been through it... so those excercising it are or become very well aware of the predatory nature going on of the self serving.

Bending over to check the mat? Intent obvious so consequence should be expected whether boot or law.

The answer according to Aesop :

THE FARMER AND THE VIPER
One winter a Farmer found a Viper frozen and numb with cold, and out of pity picked it up and placed it in his bosom. The Viper was no sooner revived by the warmth than it turned upon its benefactor and inflicted a fatal bite upon him; and as the poor man lay dying, he cried, "I have only got what I deserved, for taking compassion on so villainous a creature."

Kindness is thrown away upon the evil.

The snake was acting according to it's nature which is the nature of simply being a snake; and so was the man... there was no good or evil in either upon acting to their true natures.

If the man decides to act as a snake instead of that of a man? Then there is fault as it is not acting within one's true nature.

We do have animal nature; the divide of humanity is the attempt to overcome those drives and desires in a state of grace not ego, the ego is not oneself as it wallows in all the ways in which it acts... and like an animal it would rather attack and defend instead of do what?

Think.

Society was formed to work in co-operation to act work and think together towards common goals required to live... now it has turned into one of survival so of course animal nature is going to surface. Why? Acting and working together has ceased... if all cannot sit on the very bottom rung of society and make it to the very top of society? Then society has an issue with balance, the balance in which it was designed to operate, in a harmonious working together.

The ideology that brings that divide? Well, which one is going to bite you? All of them... the fangs and the compassion hiding them frozen over time.

That's why you don't trust(At least completely), but not to showing compassion is to do yourself a disservice.
