If it presents a materially different impression from the truth, then yes, it is therefore by definition UNTRUE....FAKE.

FAKE

noun
9.
anything made to appear otherwise than it actually is; counterfeit:

Dictionary.com

...something that is intended to look like and be mistaken for something else, esp. a copy made in order to deceive:

Cambridge English Dictionary

ABC's presentation is most certainly intended 'to deceive'.

Have you read the comments on this story from Huffington Post?

Plenty of examples.

Well, crap.

I made a mistake and read the comments.

Some on the left really have converted their ideology into a disease of the mind.

Scary, scary folks.

It's sad that people would find justification for this.

Just. . . . .damned sad.

Please list exactly who has justified this stupid woman.

Don't chicken out. Stand by what you post.

Edit: assuming you are talking about ATSers. If you are talking about the general published ...so what? Some people justify everything. Racism, Hilary for prez, antisemite behaviour, trump for prez, misogyny etc..

Or do you believe the handful of idiots who justify this stupid woman speak for all us liberals?

Will you be held under these same parameters for every idiotic thing right wingers have said?

the support I have seen expressed is not something that T&C would allow me to share here due to privacy. But there is no shortage of regular people with unusual viewpoints on this.

In fact, i'd say tht the livestream running for 24 hours might indicate an audience that seems willing to accept/justify it as well.

ETA: i should point out that your responding to his response to another party. Trace that conversation back, and you will see they are talking about a comments section with some of the unusual viewpoints I referenced above.

Please see my edit to my post you replied to.

Also, with all due respect, I don't believe that anyone on ATS has supported this woman. Sorry.

I'm just cynical enough not to believe that everyone will condemn this act.

You don't need to be cynical - you just need to understand human nature

How is ascribing this reprehensible behavior to only one group of people helping?

How is it any better than when people think all white people are racists?

How often do people on the right call out equally ugly acts when the particulars of the story are turned around?

I figure the percentages are about the same

I'm with you on this one. The hate crime in this instance, like any other, is indicative of the individuals involved and not the groups they happen to belong to or support. On social media, the right is demonizing BLM as if they had something to do with it just like the left demonized Trump supporters.

This is a hate crime for the same reasons it would be if it occurred to a member of any race, any creed, or any religion.

These days Les, with the way things are - it's time to say out loud what's what. Accept no substitutes

I like being on the same team

What's most amazing to me is how much attention all the fake hate crimes get (until they are exposed as hoaxes), but then you get a bonafide, recorded hate crime and the media shrugs it's shoulders.

I've looked at some of that.

I think the point they are trying to drive home is that if the left can take any incident like this and tack it to Donald Trump as though he somehow owns it, then turnabout should be fair play. If the left wants to back up and cry unfair (something that they actually should have every right to do), then they ought to be intellectually honest enough to admit that there is a point -- if BLM doesn't own this, then Trump and Trump supporters shouldn't own everything related to a hate crime the left doesn't like because they likewise shouldn't have to.

so there's no point in getting so upset about what one pundit says. I'm sure you could go to Fox and find another pundit who agrees with your opinion.

Do you even read what you type at times?
You are basically advocating this woman's racist remarks on national television by deflecting to Fox having the opposite stance. What stance would that be? One that would label this as a race motivated hate crime?
Please tell me that's not what you are implying here?
Or are your identity politics so strong you can't even bring yourself to call it racism when it pretty much smacks you in the face?

While i don't agree with her position, I can tell you with 100% certainty that this isn't what was "basically" being advocated. The major hint that you are in error is the word "basically", which is only used as a precursor to a gross misrepresentation of what someone else is doing by using hyperbolic reasoning.

What she is saying is, "So what you don't like what she said. Assholes abound in this world, and you can find a less offensive flavor on a different channel". I can't disagree wtih that one bit.

God posted about this on Facebook today. Immediately it devolved into right/left politics. The one time the entire nation should be able to put rhetoric aside and say, "This is wrong, and must be addressed". But no. They don't miss a freaking beat.

Ill tell you what I am ready to see go away: everyone participating in the partisan bullsnip. Because that poor dude getting worked over in front of a live audience fo 24 hours likely doesn't care about their political affiliation.
