The Bold and Controversial Plan to Drill Into a Supervolcano

If we can't poke a hole into an oil reservoir without releasing millions of barrels of oil into the ocean, what makes us think we have a better chance at tapping into a supervolcano? I'm all about the advancement of science, but this sounds overly risky to me. But, what do I know?
