Very true, we're all too forward thinking with these events and need to take a step back and also remember, he was human and any loss of human life is sad and respects should be paid.

Not just his, but all those suffering through the sad fighting without intellect and compassion.

Agreed. I hope he gets a medal, whether or not he survives. People forget that diplomats put their lives on the line just as surely as soldiers. One difference between Russia and the United States is that no-one is going to call a hearing to blame Sergei Lavrov.

Just responding, and to clarify, on initial reports, they were correct in stating that the perpetrator said "Allahu Akbar", hardly anything to get wrong there

The video has him screaming Allah akbar. What I find odd is he was alive that long to give a diatribe. I would have thought, in Turkey, with a Russian diplomat, he would have been killed almost instantly.

From what I've seen this ambassador chose not to have any security escort , given the posting he had I think that a mistake which seems to have led to his death.
