A Chinese Navy ship snatched an Underwater Unmanned Vehicle being operated by a civilian crewed Navy ship near the Philippines. The Bowditch was in the process of recovering two gliders, being used to collect oceanographic data in international waters, when the Chinese auxiliary ship Dalang 510 moved in and grabbed the second glider.

This isn't the first time Chinese vessels have done this. In 2009 Chinese vessels tried to break and steal GE towed array sonar from an intelligence vessel near Hainan. Earlier this year they grabbed another UUV but it was recovered.

Maybe we should change an old phrase to " All's fair in love and International Waters " lol.
I jest.

This makes me wonder though. How soon do we give it before we hear about other countries such as China, The Soviet Union, India, etc doing the same thing in orbit and space with satellites and any other platforms stationed in such realms?

Oh really

I would believe the Americans would have done the same time to a Chinese spy drone in their waters

I know those chest beating want a big "fun" war to watch over there TV dinners........

But best way would just be to cancell part of the debt to china and say that if they steal anything more then USA Cuts $1trillion off the debt......

Sure no big fun explosions and wars to watch over your twinkies but It helps solve the US debt crisis.

I love how the New York Times changes it

TextA Defense Department official said that the unmanned underwater vehicle was discovered missing on Thursday when the crew of the United States Navy vessel Bowditch tried to retrieve it.
