Identity theft is a huge problem effecting an estimated 93,000 people last year alone, but what are government agencies doing about it? Nothing
because the agencies benefit from ID theft by collecting more taxes, selling more loans and hiring people at lower wages.
Linda Trevino, who lives in a Chicago suburb, applied for a job last year at a local Target department store, and was denied. The reason? She already
worked there -- or rather, her Social Security number already worked there.

Even when these agencies know about the theft they do not inform the person involved, because they would lose money by doing so. As long as this
situation persists nothing will be done to stop this practice. It is ruining lives but what do they care, they are making money.
