Christmas is a charade? No, in point of fact/opinion it is not.
Like anything else, it is what you make of it. Who gives a flyin' **bleep** what anyone else thinks it should be?
I don't.
If I choose to paint myself purple and wander around an empty wheatfield singing "I'm a little teapot" in order to celebrate Christmas properly, then
that's what I'll do.
If I choose to incorporate some pagan symbolism to mark the passing of the soltice in my celebration, that's my business. If I choose to celebrate
midnite mass I'll do that, too. I've done all of those things--save the painting purple thing, haven't done that yet...
If people want to get all materialistic? I don't care about that, either. I like pressies as much as the next person (gimmie, gimme, gimme...).
Not sure why some get all offended, seemingly, about the way some may, or may not, celebrate the holiday. Why does it matter so much?
