U.K.'s UN Ambassador Slammed By China Over Syria, Aleppo Truce Blocked.

Russia and China have vetoed a UN Security Council resolution which would have mandated a seven-day ceasefire in Syria’s Aleppo.

On Monday, Russia stated that a truce would only permit the militants to regroup and that the subject requires further talks between Moscow and Washington.

Well done Russia & China, and I especially liked China grilling the U.K. Ambassador over Britain's distortions & dishonesty over the bombing of Syria, as the China Ambassador says:

What right does the U.K. have in distorting other countries and making groundless attacks against their positions?.

He also mentioned obviously, that "this was not the first time", thought deservedly so, the U.K. Ambassador looked slightly nervous at this point. Very enjoyable

Right now, it's looking like Aleppo will be falling to the Syrian gov't soon. Over the last few days, they've made major gains against the Rebels, and to me at least it's starting to look like the Rebel forces within Aleppo are collapsing. I give them a few more days at most.

In southern Syria, Assad seems to be focusing on clearing out the smaller Rebel-held pockets. Several of them have surrendered over the past week or so, with people being deported to the Rebel-held areas in the north of the country.

Turkey is still thinkin and hoping that they are protected by NATO...the fools....

Regardless, this was a resolution put forward by Egypt, New Zealand and Spain in an attempt to introduce a ceasefire in Aleppo and allow in humanitarian access.

Anyone think this is a bad idea?

This is just a run of Russian vetoes to introduce a break in the conflict. Very sad.

I can say China has vetoed on 9 occasions, the U.K. on 29, the U.S. on 79 and Russia on 104 previously, but the point of this thread isn't in regards to other vetoes

Russia and China and the vetos im referring to dealt specifically with whats going on in Syria.

Update: The re-conquest of Aleppo rolls on. Yesterday, the Syrian gov't took back another swath of the city, including the Old Quarter. It definitely looks like the Rebel defenses have collapsed.

When Syria tried legitimately to evacuate civilians from Eastern Aleppo prior to the start of the battle, the terrorists blocked them (presumably to use them as human shields) and the West called it a war crime.

Now the terrorists want a truce to evacuate "civilians" (which is code for the commanders want to sneak out") ?

No, don't buy it. They didn't want to be rid of their human shields before.

Don't accept any surrender, don't accept any truce. Every terrorist in Aleppo should be executed to prevent them escaping and fleeing to continue their war in other parts of Syria.

Oh and a big congratulations to Syria and her Army for finally liberating the city of Aleppo. Just the Citadel left to storm now.
