Hey All,

So finally was able to get the 5.1 SACD mix of Dark Side of the Moon and can honestly say..when I listened to it it was basically like i was hearing the album all over again for the first time.

Just utterly amazing which prompted me to pick up a few other things including the 5.1 mix of Wish You Were Here and The Downward Spiral by NiN.

ANyway, any multichannel mixes that people would really point to? I know Steven WIlson of Porcupine Tree has done a lot of 5.1 mixes of albums ..

Hi there, sorry for repeating posts. Still relatively new to this.

Alas, I've not got my speakers set up to enjoy the 5.1 mixes just yet. But have indulged in buying a few sacds.

War of the worlds by Jeff Wayne and some of the Tomita albums are surely worth the investment.

I'm a huge Queen fan, and what I've found is. Because they have been released in such limited quantities. The re-sale value have soared. Hundreds of pounds.

Brain Salad Surgery by Emerson Lake & Palmer. Has been mixed a couple of times. The recommended one is, again, priced well out of proportion because of the quantities thing.

I think it is better to bounce between the ebay and amazon to find the cheaper deals. And any odd second hand places where they might not realise what they've got.

One of the other albums I'm looking at, but only after I've got it all working tickety boo is the Dire Straits Brothers in arms. As this is priced reasonably when I've looked for it.

I'd be also curious to listen to some of the channels seperated out. Puts a whole new slant on the recording.

Even listening to some of the Jimi Hendrix vinyls through a surround sound system, makes it sound superb.

Hope some of this information helps

Bestest regards
Mark

Bit of a weird one but kind of cool and creative. Canibus made a a track called poet laureate infinity which was 5 different 1000 bar verses mixed in 5.1. The concept was that the channels were interchangeable between bars and you could switch across at any point to create thousands of different possible combinations of lyrics like a rubix cube. It sounds like a friggin mess when all 5 channels are playing simultaneously though.

Here's one of the channels, the others are on youtube:

Electric Ladyland has really stood the test of time hasn't it? It's remarkable how immersive it can be - especially 1983.

I haven't listened to Canibus for years and will give your link a go. Recent play list has been featuring MF Doom's Sade mixtape and Army of the Pharoahs. The Pharaohs have been hitting the Wu Tang sweetspot because I've murdered all the Wu stuff by overplay.

Add some additional 5.1 mixes

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
BLackwater Park by Opeth technically this is a 5.0 mix
Pale Communion by Opeth
Still LIfe by Opeth

Currently I am listening to Still LIfe in 5.1 and for as many times as I have heard this album this is like a brand new experience. I literally dont know what to do hearing these songs in this way..so amazing..
